We're a group of 6 adults (one vegetarian) and have an extra TS on the DDP to use for a breakfast one day or "upgrade" to a signature option. We definitely want to go to AKL for a meal and are trying to decide which to choose. Is Jiko worth the two table credits? I know we're comparing buffet with table service, but we're more focussed on seeing AKL than the food, to a degree.

Both restaurants offer great decor and good food but there's really no comparison between the two. JIKO is a very adult oriented restaurant with a sophisticated menu and an outstanding African wine selection. It's quiet, romantic, has dimmed lighting and IMO the best filet mignon offered at WDW. I love the appetizer sampler platters here too. We have always found it to be a great choice for a relaxing evening where you can actually have conversation and can hear each other.

BOMA is a buffet and does offer some very good and interesting choices. But it's hectic, noisy, tables close together, typical WDW buffet atmosphere.

Either choice, AKL is worth the trip. I actually prefer seeing the hotel at night rather than during the day--it lends a sense of mystery and awe to it.

When people ask if a restaurant is worth two TS credits, I think it should go to the Dining Plan board...so off it goes.

I agree completely.

We did both last year. This year when we go back we are opting to do just Jiko and are skipping Boma. Nothing wrong with Boma, we just prefer Jiko for the reasons listed above.

Get to AKL before 4 PM and do the culinary tour, then you'd get a good look at both restaurants. That late it won't help with the decision, but it's fun anyway.

We did dinner at Jiko and breakfast at Boma last week... both were excellent... if forced to choose at gunpoint I would probably pick Jiko, and have a snack/OOP breakfast on that other day.
