Jiko next Saturday

We are dining at Jiko next Saturday for my birthday. Is there a don't miss item? I see a lot of the reports talk about the filet and the flatbreads. Looking forward to trying this place.

Definitely *do* get an appetizer.

If you really like steak, get the fillet; but if you really like African food, get something else. I see a lot of people here complaining that they thought Jiko was too Americanized but then it turns out they ordered the fillet! I mean, it's very good filet, it's very good mac & cheese; but it is a fillet with mac & cheese.

The pistachio crème brulée over a chocolate base is one of the best desserts anywhere on property.

I love the Taste of Africa appetizer plus we usually get a sampler platter of the others (not on the menu but they do).

The soups here are always unique and outstanding; I rarely get an entree because I don't think they are as unique as the appetizers.

I have never had a dessert here that I thought was good enough to order again. I must be the only person who does not like their pistacchio creme brulee.
