I was reading that Jiko required business attire. I am visiting in August. I have Lou Gehrig's diease and have no ability for independent movement. Since I am assuming that it will be very hot during this time I need to know if we will have to return to the hotel before dinner. This will greatly decrease the amount of time the kids have in the park. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The Resort Signature Restaurants (such as Jiko) ask for "Business Casual" as dress.

Basically they ask (men) for a collared shirt and at least decent shorts (no cutoffs or holes). They also ask no flip-flops.

Thanks very much. I hope that others will give me any other information. It is also my assumption that I will be able to remain in my chair and not have to transfer at Jiko. As I said I have no independant movement and would require a lot of assistance which I would hope to avoid.

Don't worry. As long as you aren't in your bathing suit and flip-flops, Jiko will seat you. We have seen everything there from denim shorts to dresses and suits. We have also seen people in wheel chairs and electric scooters. Jiko is our favorite WDW restaurant. Enjoy your dinner!

I enjoyed Jiko on my last trip. I did wear nice jeans and a polo shirt but as you can see people around me were dressed at all sorts of levels of dress. Your wheelchair shouldn't be any problem at all unless you plan on sitting at "the cooking place" like I did. It's a counter at the cooking area where they make the appetizers. The problem was it was at a higher height then the normal tables. To Jiko's credit I did ask to sit there and when they seated me they told me the counter was a bit high and I could make the decision myself on if I wanted to sit there or at a normal table.

Here's a link to my review of Jiko and other places from my trip 2 weeks ago. I ate at all of these places and never had a wheelchair related problem. Of course thinking about it I don't think I've ever had a wheelchair related problem at any of Disney's restaurants.

Thanks Bill. My ALS is progressing at such a fast pace I think this will probably be my last vacation with the kids and I want to make it special for them and give them as much time in the parks. I hope to not have any issues with my chair or disability. I hope to have a great vacation just like you did.

Hope that your vacation with your kids is fantastic! Wishing you all the best!

My mother is a CM at Artist Point, which also requires "business attire" She said basically a golf shurt and nice pants/shorts. No cut offs, no tank tops, no bathing suits.
