Staying at akv just wondered if jiko's is worth trying, have tried bomas before and enjoyed it but wanted something a bit special and not buffet style. what to you all think?:confused3

Jiko is a terrific restaurant - great food and service with a good selection of South African wines.

Jiko is just incredible. I often order the Fillet Mignon with Macaroni and Cheese in a Red Wine reduction sauce. The first time I ordered I thought it was a strange combination but now I look forward to it, mixing the mac & cheese with the sauce... mmm, I'm getting hungry now...

Awesome...we tried after we did the Culinary Tour at AKL and now we are hooked.

Jiko is our favorite restaurant in WDW. It is a beautiful restaurant, with warm friendly servers and delicious food and great wine. We had a great adult meal there on our last trip.
It was quiet and romantic. We shared a bottle of wine recommended by our waiter. It was great.
I think you will enjoy Jiko

It is definately worth trying. And I second the fillet mignon with the four cheese macaroni, mmmmmm it was so good.

Jiko...drool...one of our top three faves. We eat there at least once a month if not more. They serve the most tasty bread with tandoori butter, and I adore the halibut (the sauce is made by the angels and brought down to the kitchen from heaven). Their cheese plate is great too...goat and sheep cheeses. Yum!

This seems to be a very popular main course at Jiko. Is there anything African about it, or is it just your basic steak with red wine sauce?

LOVE Jiko, one of out favs as well! As far as the filet being your "basic" filet I think it's one of the best anywhere with the red sauce reduction the addition of the mac & cheese around it just makes it magnifico!:cool1:

Hi,
Jiko is great and well worth a try if you are looking for a nice place to have a relaxing meal.

JIKO is one of our faves.:goodvibes The Short Rib and the Scallop entrees are both excellent!

We went twice to Jiko on our visit a few months ago and had the filet and when we went the second time we said to our server, that we have come again to have this steak as it is soooo good, then she told us where they get the beef from. We realised why the steak was so good........ It's Australian Beef :rotfl:

Jiko has fantastic small plates and appetizers but the most amazing thing on the menu has to be the watermelon, cucumber salad. If you are serious about food, you will love the thoughtful way in which they put this dish together.

Jiko is our only Must Do every trip. Victoria & Albert's would be, but we can afford Jiko each time.

BIG :thumbsup2 from us

We will be eating there for the first time next week and are so looking forward to it!!!

Love Jiko!!! I always order the short ribs they are so tender, so delicious! I can't wait until we go there again!
