I just found out that there is a tour group that has arranged for the Sukkot hoilday on Disneyland property.

(For those who don't know what Sukkot is: http://www.ou.org/chagim/sukkot/default.htm)

This is only the second time I know of in Disney history when there has been Jewish & Kosher experience on property itself (I am not counting the reheated meals that are available in the parks year round). I believe it was 2005 when a tour group has Passover arrangements at the Contemporary, but I heard it was a disaster coordinating the needs of the Passover guests with the resort, so that was one & done.

Here's the link if you are interested. (I honestly couldn't care less about the Lipa concert, but I'd love to celebrate the holiday in the Disneyland Sukkah!)

Accommodation has been arranged in Disney's Paradise Pier® Hotel. The Hotel will be specially "kosherized" to cater for all elements of the holiday.

All meals will be served in our Sukkah which will be constructed on the beautifully manicured Dream Lawn discretely situated within the Disneyland® Resort complex surrounded by lush trees and scented by the fragrance of the gardens nearby.

Fascinating. I'd love to go, but alas, once again, a Disney experience has been nixed by my wife. I hope it's a success and that they do it again next year.

If anyone goes, I'd die for a trip report.

Thanks for the information! Sukkot at Disneyland must be fun.

I wonder if you could consider the Tiki Room one huge Sukkah? Walt's original plan was to have meals in it ... hmmmm !!! :rotfl2:

ROFL! The Tiki Room would make an awesome Sukkah!

Wow. Well nothign says Disney to me like seeign Lipa standing in front of the castle. Next we will see if we can get MBD to preform during Night of Joy in WDW. That I would pay to see.

we'll be in italy for hol hamoed this year.
not as good as Mickey, but should be nice.

by the way, i've always thought that pesach in WDW was a horrible idea.
how could i possibly pass up on some of my WDW favorites? ice cream, frozen cokes....(i should mention that the 4 food groups i live on are sugar, sugar, sugar and sugar....oh and chocolate)...

I agree about Passover & Disney not being a good mix, but I'd still rather be in Disney than not. I'll jump at any chance I'd get, even if I have to pack lunch of matza sandwiches & macaroons.

I have done the Pseach WDW thing a few times and regretted it each time. Its not even so much the food, although I have yet to find a way to transport a Pesadik meal without it becoming a damp blob after a few hours but the drinks that get to me. Its normally very hot and the only thing you can drink are the water bottles, the Cokes are not good for Pesach. Each time I haven ended my day being hungry, thirsty, and cranky. You may not realize how much a day in the parks takes out of you until you cant fill up like you are used to.

Did you stay in a hotel? Did you feel you needed to get back to the hotel for dinner every night?

This is why Pesach at the Contemporary would seem to be very intriguing. I would mind less being dependent on an on-property hotel. Especially in Disneyland - you could pretty much take the monorail to the sukkah!

No, Pesach trips were always based out of an Aunts house in Tampa or a few of the big vacation homes in Orlando for the family, I have never stayed on property over Yom Tov. Listen, it could be its just me. I am a picky eater and not really big on the Pesach menu, although jumping on the monorail for a drink of Dr. Browns might have helped a bit. I just figured, Disney is a treat for me and I like to take full advantage of it while I am there. If I am walking around thinking "God I really want a soda, or a mickey bar or an airline meal pizza" I know from experience I wont enjoy myself as much as usual.
Now I have only done Disneyland once and I can always find the loopholes around eating in a succah if I am REALLY hungry but if you ever do find yourself in DW over Pesach, look down towards the end of the day.... I kid you not, the pixie dust will have been replaced by billions of matzah crumbs.

"Man, I really want an airline pizza meal" is something I've never thought I'd hear.

Just goes to show you how the kosher Disney vacationer has such a different experience.

I remember when you couldn't even get that. Trips to Disney consisted of penut butter sandwiches and Mickey Bars and those got really old after day 2. It may not be much but its leaps an bounds better than it was.

Agreed. The four food groups were Coke, ice cream, popcorn, and "whatever was left in your bag."

Of course, the Passover menu consists of only the last choice.

Tee hee...

Do you think they hang those Mickey-shaped pumpkins in the Sukkah? That would totally rock!
