:scared1::scared1::scared1:

I have noticed lately that Jetblue pricing is outrages compared to other airlines. Does anyone think they will drop anytime soon? I'm looking for March 2011 and the prices for one way are $159.00. Even coming back they are way higher then last year. I was actually looking at other airlines and they are at least 20-30 less. What is going on with Jetblue this year???

I thought their airfare specials have been very good. Last year we paid a lot for our flights in January. But this year we booked in August during an airfare sale for the end of January early February and paid $79 each way. If you have facebook or twitter friend or fan them to find out when they are having an airfare sale. If you are a true blue member, they will send you emails notifying you of any specials. Also, every Tuesday they offer specials through facebook and twitter.

They may come down. We bought our tickets for Columbus Day Weekend in March, I think, and got an okay, but not great, price. After that I kept checking (moreso to see if times had changed) and the prices went very high. Like $155-$189 each way. Then in the few weeks before we left they came down quite a bit. If we'd been looking for a last-minute deal we would've really made out.

We priced out flights for end of February and they are about $600 pp each way/:scared1: Hope they do come down. We are looking at March now and are high $100s to low $200s. We'll see.

I would be surprised if their prices don't come down. I will be flying to MCO from Syracuse for less then 200$ at the end of this month however we managed to get a sale and paid something like 89-99 each way. I don't remember until what date the sale when on.

Jet Blue seems to do pricing a bit different than other airlines. Often their prices are cheaper when the flights are first opened up for sale. As the plane fills their prices go up.

From Portland, Maine they are often the cheapest airline for me. If I watch carefully when the fares are first released I can usually snag a flight to Orlando for $79 or $89 each way. Air Tran offers their base fare at the same rate but then I have to pay for seat assignments and checked baggage on Air Tran that I don't have to pay for on Jet Blue.

I suspect the prices are so high for you because you are either traveling at a high demand time OR it has something to do with demand at your specific airport because as I already mentioned they are the cheapest airline for me from Portland, Maine.

You also mentioned that other airlines are $20-$30 less....don't forget on Jet Blue seat assignments are free and your first checked bagged is free. Often you can end up further ahead financially by going with Jet Blue even if their prices if $20-$30 higher round trip because you don't have baggage fees and seat assignments costs.

Have you tried or open to flexible schedules? Jetblue normally offers the 89-99 but normally mid week to mid week. We fly in March a couple years ago for 200 round trip. This time, flying a weekend in spring break time it was 600 so we went with SW for 430 pp.

Usually, it's like this. When they first open up the flight for sale, the sell all the cheapest seats. Then the prices go up, and could go very high up. As the actual travel date gets close, any unsold seats (or most of them anyway) will be sold for a low price again.

This is a very common business strategy in the travel industry as a whole. It does, of course, mean you will have to keep cool and be prepared to fly with another airline or pay more if they manage to sell enough seats not to put the final seats up for a sale. My nerves are not strong enough, so I tend to buy my airline tickets early to get the first batch of cheap seats.

::yes:: I was looking/waiting for a "good" LAS-BOS fare. Continental was cheaper than Jet Blue by about $50. I was tempted, but... a few weeks ago somebody posted Jet Blue was having a sale. I looked, and 'my' fare had dropped $20. That was good enough for me! The net difference would have been slightly more than $7 - no tax on the $23 first-checked-bag paid in advance fee.

Then yesterday Jet Blue started offering $7 fares between Boston and Washington DC; I couldn't find anything that fit my schedule (hey, I'd fly down for the day for the $25 or so round-trip!), but decided to check my existing fares. That LAS-BOS dropped $20. Now I have a credit toward my next flight!

OP, it must be your area, because the Jetblue fares out of my area have only been $5 higher than last year. Normally they start out at $79, but now they are starting at $84. Considering you don't pay for your first bag or your seat assignment, I choose Jetblue always. And like the PP, I called and got a credit on a November flight yesterday morning and now have a $30 credit. I would never buy a ticket hoping the price would drop, but when it does, it's like icing on a cake. Out of my airport (Dulles) we have 4 other carriers that fly non-stop to Orlando, so that keeps the prices comparable.

I also saw the one day $7 fare sale yesterday and was tempted. I really thought they would've had a $10 sale last week on 10/10/10, since Jetblue was celebrating their 10th anniversary. I watched all day, but nothing.

Just got an email from Jetblue that the next release of fares is Monday Oct. 18th.
