Can someone who is familiar with JetBlue help me to understand their change and cancellation policy if I book with their trueblue points? Will I get the points back if I need to change or cancel?
I’ve read their site and it appears that right now they are waving the fees to change or cancel for bookings made through the end of the month. Does that mean if I reserve a flight this month but I’m flying in March, I can change without penalty?

If you are booking with points you will get the points back and the approx $6 fee for each flight will be refunded to a travel bank credit. I just changed 2 flights I booked on points in July for November. I called JetBlue and I had them cancel both original flights. The customer service person had me stay on to make sure all my points refunded and that the fees went back to my travel bank. I then booked the new flights online with points (which were less than original flights) and used the travel bank credits for the fees. Just be forewarned that I was on hold for an hour before getting a rep, but they were very helpful.

I have a JetBlue flight booked on points in May. Just the other day I noticed it dropped in points/price. I contacted JetBlue thru FB messenger asking if I could modify it to get the points returned. I got a response very quickly to say I need to cancel and rebook. Like pp said, all points were returned to my account immediately, along with the $6 fee to a travel bank credit and the $30 checked bag fee was refunded to my credit card. I easily turned around, rebooked it using points and all the credits for the fees.

That is great! I hope they keep it this way. Normally I book southwest because I love their change flexibility.

I cancel and rebook often (when there are price drops) and it's generally fairly seamless on the site. Points show up immediately and, like others said, the $5.60 charge gets put in your travel bank immediately so you could use it when re-booking.
The only catch is I assume there's a limit like so many days/hours before your flight to cancel. I don't think you can cancel same day.

Like others have said, you will get all your points back. You'll have to cancel and rebook, they can't just credit the difference or cancel online, you'll typically have to call to make changes to points reservations. We had to cancel flights to Aruba in August, and then adjusted a trip in November, and aside from the wait times, it was super easy. Online chat worked flawlessly for both instances

I cancel online several times now and my points go right back to my account. So you can cancel reservations made with points online. I’ve done it 3 times now successfully.

I did it too for our trip a couple weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I hope they keep this policy. That’s the one reason I love southwest is because you can freely cancel and rebook.
