Hi, we are flying jet blue, I have the jet blue credit card, so we get 1 free bag. I did my flight separate since I used points. My husband and son I paid with the jet blue credit card. Their reservation is showing no checked bags, when we get to the airport will they take their bags at no charge? Thanks!

Go to the counter and give them your card with the reservation they should be able to do something. Same happened to me and they waved the fee or refunded I can't remember.

ok, thanks, I didn't want to add the luggage then get charged for it on the reservation. I'd call them but I'd probably be on hold for a long time.

I had a different issue but also was facing the prospect of a long hold on the phone. The chat worked like a charm and I had the problem resolved quickly!

Good luck!

This confused me too the last time we bought fares with Jet Blue card because wording on that page indicated prices. I went ahead anyway and entered the checked bag(s) number we were entitled and after proceeding to the next step it showed $0 for those bags.

A couple times with JB I have had similar issues, showed the free bags then it didn't etc. Called them and they said it showed the free bags on their end but if I had an issue at check in to just show my card at the check in desk.

Thanks everyone, I did an on line chat-the rep kept saying I had to be on the reservation as them. I kept saying I booked my separate since I used points, and they used the JB credit card. Then she said primary holder of card gets the free bags. I don't remember who the primary holder is, ugh.
I'll try calling, if not at the airport I'll show the credit card. It was a pretty frustrating chat, the rep kept repeating the same thing over and over. I wonder if I called the number on the JB credit card if that would help?? Might be easier to get through to them instead of directly Jet Blue, what do you think?

Check your CC and see whose primary. Maybe get your husband a card copy?

Free first checked bag

For you and up to 3 companions on the same reservation when you use your JetBlue Plus Card to purchase tickets2

We both have the card, just not sure who primary is-

I would have him bring his card with his name on it to the desk at the airport and ask for it to be fixed. They wont look to deep into this.

I tried another chat, presenting the question a little different, end result was the same-primary card name has to be on the reservation. I told them I booked separate because of using points for my flight. She said you can book with points with cash and points, then I chatted back when I went to book it came up I should book separate. I'm going to try the JB # on the back of my card, that will be my last ditch effort. I can always take a chance and just show the card at the airport. How would they know who primary card holder-
thanks everyone!
I do have 1 more question..for Jet Blue the "middle" fair, if I switch a flight, is there a charge? I know I have to pay the fare difference, but is there a fee as well?

I have had this, one on points, one using the JB CC. I have had them take care of it at the airport (EWR). I didn't pay for my son's luggage in advance, and at the airport they waived the luggage fee because we were on the same flights.

thanks, I think I'm going to do that, go to airport and show the JB credit card. We're flying out of Westchester.

It's my understanding that the information you got from chat is technically correct, which is why I don't bother with the paid jb card. You have to book your party at the same time with the same reservation number to get free checked bag for others. It might be possible, as other posters have said, to get a refund at the airport.

Good luck.

Here is a screen shot from JB comparing fares. Hope it readable. Basically it says the Blue fare only pays a change in fare. If the prices is lower you get a refund to a travel bank.

The rule with the fee card is you are allowed 1 free bag for each person that is on the reservation with the primary card holder only. So if you make a reservation separate from the primary card hold they are not eligible for a free bag. If they will enforce it 🤷‍♂️. I will say their customer service stinks for the past few years. I hope they come back to what they were but for now because of the last few years of experiences I am done with JB after over 12 years of using them exclusively.

This has happened to me once when I booked a seperate reservation on points. Precovid when we got to
the airport I explained to agent and it was zero charge. Of course like I said it was precovid. Their
cust service lately has not been up to par at all. Good luck but def ask at counter.
