Hey everyone,

Our fam is flying JetBlue out of Syracuse on December 31st....first time flying JetBlue, and first time at the Syracuse airport (we normally fly out of Pearson in Toronto, but tickets were $1400 cheaper out of Syracuse and its only an hour further drive, so we're living on the wild side and trying something new :thumbsup2).

Our flight leaves at 7 a.m. :scared1: so we're heading up the night before and staying at the Holiday Inn Express across from the airport. They will shuttle us over so no need to worry about parking.

Can anyone tell me if I should bring anything in particular for the flight? I think I read somewhere that we should bring earphones for the TV's, but I'm not sure? I did see that snacks and drinks are included, which is good when flying with a teenaged boy with a couple of hollow legs ;) .

And far as the Syracuse airport goes.....will there be somewhere to grab breakfast before we board? We're leaving too early to partake in the hotel breakfast, and I can't seem to find anything on the airport website indicating that there's a Dunkin Donuts or something similar in the terminal. I am quite sure that my dear boy (and the husband too, who am I kidding?) will expire somewhere over North Carolina if they don't have something to fill their tummies. :rotfl:

Me, all I need is a good dose of Gravol. Flying completely freaks me out, and makes me sicker than a dog without it. I'm hoping that being able to watch TV on board will be a good diversion that will make time pass quicker and help alleviate some of my (unjustified) paranoias.

For JetBlue, definitely bring headphones for the inflight entertainment (which includes DirectTV and XM/Sirius satellite radio).

There's a note on the Syracuse airport website that there is a Sbarro and Au Bon Pain in the airport which serve breakfast. Hope this helps!

This seems to be a free service, so, I would expect they will provide the earphones. I would call for confirmation.

Thank you :thumbsup2 .

For the headphones.....are we talking the cheapie kind we would find at the local dollar store?

When you get inside the Syracuse airport, you take the escallator on the right to go up one floor to get to security and the gates. Security will be on your left when you get upstairs.

After you go through security, there are no restaurants. There is one place which sells some food and magazines. It should be open before you board the plane; I know I've purchased drinks before that flight. I can't remember what the food was, but probably donuts, croissants, etc. Other than that, there are a few vending machines, but that's it. Not a lot of food options.

I don't know if there are restaurants before you go through security. I never paid attention. Even if there are restaurants before you go through security, I don't know if they will be open that early.

If your family has any type of food allergies or sensitivies, check the JetBlue website to see what kind of food they will be serving. A few years ago, they had different types of doritos-type snacks, but they all contained MSG. If you were sensitive to MSG, it was cookies or nothing. They have since changed their food offerings, but you'll want to look into it if that's an issue for your family.

If you don't bring your own headphones, there usually is a bin near the desk at the gate. Sometimes the bin is on the side of the desk, and you won't see it if you're looking at the front of the desk. You can put $2 in the box and take headphones.

You can buy headphones on the plane. Again, it's $2. But anything you buy on the plane is credit card only. Also, the flight attendants will be busy with other things when the flight first takes off, and it will be awhile before they can sell you headphones, so you'll be sitting there unable to listen to your TV for awhile if you don't already have headphones.

The headphones from the Dollar Store should be fine.

I find that the TVs really help calm you down if you are a nervous traveller.

The flight attendants might tell you that you can't put your coats in the overhead bin because they take up too much space. I usually take a jacket which I can fold up and put behind my back as a pillow.
