They recently released the flights for fall/early winter. The prices for flights after Thanksgiving through Christmas were high (IMO) I didn't buy any yet, but I've been checking daily. Today they're even higher!.... any opinion if they'll go down? I checked and the flights I want have only have about 10 seats bought so far.

They might or might not go down, but I can tell you that I look one look at JetBlue's December prices earlier this week (we have a December cruise planned), and immediately decided against buying right now. For what they're asking, I could almost buy first class tickets on a legacy airline.

Once I bought December holiday tickets from Southwest several months early, and then found that the prices were significantly lower only 2-3 months before our trip. Obviously that wasn't JetBlue, but I wouldn't be surprised if the pattern were the same.

With travel in general so uncertain right now, I have no interest in giving JetBlue a huge chunk of cash more than six months before our trip.

If people aren't traveling, at least domestically, by the holidays then we are in serious trouble in so many different ways.

I would anticipate them remaining high.

That may well be, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. There is also the possibility that the virus will recede this summer & travel will resume, and then the virus will resurge in the late fall, and along with it, travel might be curtailed again. There is just no way to know over 6 months in advance. It's a gamble to put a lot of nonrefundable money down for 2020 travel right now.

I booked my flights on Sunday when they opened but used points. It was 9.900 going down from Boston on 11/15 and 12,000 coming back on 11/21. I didn’t think that was too horrible. I just checked now and it’s 20,100 and 20,900 points.

Ive been looking for a 10/31/2020 flight on JB from EWR. On the day they were released, OW was $219 midday.
Today the same flights midday are $242 one way. I'm going to wait.
United one way is $324 from EWR. Yikes.
Points are 20100 or 18600 one way for mid day on JB.
My flight back is already booked on UA for points. JB was not opened when I booked UA on points.

I too went ahead and purchased for Nov on the Sunday they released, fingers crossed. One of my tickets was more than the other 4. Jet Blue is the only airline that flies direct from Richmond, so I knew I wanted JB. It’s happened before that at the beginning of fall, JB lowered prices but I couldn’t benefit from it. It will probably happen again, but oh well. I’m just going to hope all goes well with this trip. Thought: when a previous poster saw few tickets were sold for the flight, isn’t that looking at those who bought tickets where seats were purchased? Can you see how many tickets have sold in total for the flights?

I don't think there's any way for passengers to see how many seats were sold until you board the plane. Yes, all hou can see is how many seats were selected

I enter my name, address, birthday... then the next screen has the chart to pick out my seats. After I see that screen, I leave the site, so I don't enter my cc or pay for the tickets :)

I too looked at flights when they were released Sunday for 12/24-1/1 (I know, could I have picked worse dates? 😬) and flights were ~$700 RT per person, unless I wanted to fly earlier than 7am or after 9pm. Just checked and it's cheaper now at ~$550. I don't normally travel at this time so not sure if these prices are normal or not!

I hope they go down. Right now United is $200 cheaper than Jet Blue for the same level of economy. I knew it would be expensive since our dates are 12/24-12/27 but that's a big difference.

We usually buy JetBlue tickets near the release date... only done a last-minute trip once. When I check back after having already bought, in my experience the price goes up over time, not down.

This year that might be different if fewer people are travelling and they’re having a tougher time filling legs, but I wouldn’t count on it. Likely to see reduced flights that are more full, rather than more flights less full.

Put me on the list for buying usually the minute it comes out..Which is usually always around that 1st Sunday in APRIL. Well this time was no exception, but as everyone here already knows. these prices started kind of high...It actually is a slap in the face sorta. The fact that you can go on Kay*k and check the other airlines, & have them be so much lower is mind boggling:crazy:. My trip is for Jersey week, which we typically go, and normally we pay around $300 or just under R/T. Right now they are just above $320 or so, but I've seen some airlines where a R/T is actually well below $200... The only drawback is if that flight is somehow cancelled, or delayed, there's no fall back plan(because they don't have many multiple flights)..:confused3 We also will take a wait n see approach.

I booked tickets for the first week in November (ended up being $266 roundtrip from JFK on JetBlue). I've learned that the best way to buy airfare is to buy when you see a fare you're comfortable paying and then never check again. Even if they go down (which isn't guaranteed) there's no telling when that could happen.

Part of the issue might be that people who had spring trips that were cancelled are now rebooking for November/December.
