JetBlue flight option no longer there

I was getting ready to book my flights for December, and when I went to book on JetBlue, the last flight out of MCO (at around 8 or 9pm) was no longer there as an option for that day or the next day! It would still be listed even if it had sold out. So did they just decide to remove that flight option? It totally messes with my plans to not have that late flight out!

what airport do you need to return to? I just checked a random date in December for MCO to JFK (my home airport) and they are still doing the late night flights for that.

It is possible that JetBlue changed their offerings. I use to fly exclusively them but they only do 2 flights daily to Houston now and 1 flight to Austin. So when I go home to Texas their schedule doesn't really fit for someone who isn't traveling for business.

I've seen that as well (especially when I booked my flight as soon as dates came out in September!), but, I'm wondering if it's because they're waiting? It seems dumb, but hey, what do we know?

I'm just annoyed because there had been a flight option on the website when I was doing initial planning, probably even as recently as two weeks ago since I check prices often, but now it's gone. I used to be able to fly down early Saturday morning from DC and come back late on whatever day I came back, but now those options are no longer available. :(

Keep checking, dear. :) I'm sure they'll pop up soon enough. If not, give JB a call and see what's the hold up.

I will definitely call since the flight was there, and now isn't. That's so strange to me. I wonder what would have happened if I had already booked it! Would I have been rescheduled onto a different flight?

You would have been rescheduled on another flight. We have been bumped from flights that were cancelled due to low booking. They usually email and say your flight has been changed from X:XX time to Y:YY time.

One time they made the change and my furture father in law didn't know. He had been bumped to a flight 3 hours later and had to sit at the airport and wait.

Ugh that stinks, but looks like you're right! I just checked with JetBlue and they said that their schedule regularly changes based on season and demand, so clearly there was not enough demand.

Now to rearrange my Disney plans!

Yeah Jetblue got an ear full from him! He also wrote a very strongly worded message. They said they emailed him but he is in his mid 70s so doesn't often check his email. He thought a call would have been more sufficent. When he books airfare he writes it in his calender and then that is that. Now he has an assistant again who double checks everything for him but he was not happy at all. He is also the type of traveler that shows up right before boarding so is not accustom to 3 hour waits haha.

Oh man, that happened to us with Delta. I was going to WDW solo, but about a month after I booked my flight, I decided to take my dd, then 12. So, we were on different itineraries. Delta cancelled our flight but put us on other flights. I called them and told them that they had put me on one flight and dd on another flight...understandable since we weren't on the same reservation. They ended up putting us both on the same flight, which I would have originally booked if it hadn't been almost twice the price of the one I did book!!! You just have to keep checking on your flights!!

Regular flights aren't cancelled for low bookings. They still need to move those planes.

I'm puzzled why your FIL apparently never checked his flight after booking. That's his own fault.

That happened to DH and me once. We were travelling on points from our own cards. Now, after I book the flights I call and make sure the flight plans are linked so if one moves, so does the other. Even if it's just an equipment change, which switches seating around, we will be kept together.

He flies all the time and is old school mid to late 70s. He has never had a flight change like that before so never thought to do it. Not sure why you needed to say something though. Like I pointed out Jetblue went from having several flights going between Houston and NYC. Now they have 2 a day. As OP said they could have booked the flight they wanted two weeks ago and now Jetblue is saying it is not an option. Not just sold out but is not a flight any more.

Truly, anyone who rarely checks their e-mail should very strongly consider not providing an e-mail address. Had the airline not had this means of contacting a passenger, they would have advised the passenger some other way.

So, I'm not quite as Old, but I've been flying almost 40 years. I've had flights cancelled well in advance and been changed to flights departing at much different times; flights cancelled day of travel; departures delayed... common advice is to always check your flights in advance. Past performance is not an indication of future results.

My dad is pretty old school. He uses email, but he is still the guy that calls and confirms his flights the day before. He has for as long as I can remember. If you provide an airline with a way of contacting you and then don't regularly use that method, how are they to know?
 
Gosh I forgot how sharing a personal story on the Dis just has a ton of people jump on you to point out how it is your fault. It happened once he was upset and sat at the airport for 3 hours. It the end of the world. Back on topic. Yes airlines do change their offerings from time to time.
