Jetblue Ending Florida Flights from Dulles?!

I spent yesterday trying to confirm this information. I read another thread regarding Jetblue adding more nonstop flights to Florida out of DCA and someone noted that there are no nonstops to Florida showing out of Dulles starting in June. (Seems our Dulles nonstops went to DCA.) I wrote Jetblue and posted on FB. On FB another person posted that they were ending all Florida non stop flights from Dulles. I wrote JB yesterday to try to get a confirmation. The first response I got was telling me there are currently no non-stop flights to Orlando (or any Florida destination) after June 11th. Not the confirmation I wanted, so I wrote back and asked about the future. That email said that no decision has been made yet, but an announcement would be posted on their website soon. So they are not ready to make that announcement yet. Strangly I posted on my facebook post several times, but the Jetblue rep would not respond to my post. He/she responded to everyone's post except mine, so I'm guessing that this information is not official yet so "no comment". I have a ton of trueblue points I was saving for my October flights, so was really looking for a concrete answer. I've not purchased my late April airfare yet, so will use up my trueblue points and credits there. I've not decided if I'm ready to make the 90 minute drive to DCA to fly Jetblue. It would be very complicated for us as we often go for 3 weeks, so would involve having to pick up a rental car at Dulles to drive ourselves oneway and drop it off vs paying for parking for 3 weeks. (Currently my adult kids drop us off and pick us up at Dulles.) It looks like we are back to United. Jetblue spoiled us and it will be hard to fly anyone else now. At least I have until October to decide what to do as we are not doing anything this summer.

Thanks for your update. I saw the thread yesterday and I am also not happy. I usually fly JB down (earliest flight possible) and United back (latest flight possible) in the Fall. DH can take me to DCA, I would prefer not to. IAD is much closer and I "know" it.

Bumping back up just in case any Dulles/Jetblue flyers missed it.

Just a reminder that it is 28 miles between Dulles and National, all highway or parkway. And National is a much smaller airport with more convenient parking, fewer gates, no underground tram, smaller security lines, and direct access to metro.

I realize that there are circumstances where National is far less convenient for specific individuals, but many of the positives of National might make total travel time (front-door-at-home to gate-at-airport) pretty comparable.

Noooooooooo! This cannot be happening. When Southwest left, I was a little sad, because that was one less airline to keep prices competitive. However we have always liked Jetblue. We got RT tickets in January for $98. Do you think United is going to give me RT tickets for that? Thanks for the info though, I'm about to cry now :sad2:

You're not crying alone, believe me.

Definitely not alone! And DCA's parking IS NOT CONVENIENT! And unless you use Metro during non-rush hour you can't bring your luggage. We flew Jet Blue/Dulles in December for less than $400 round trip for the 3 of us and it was wonderful.

As someone who lives about seven minutes from Dulles, I'm pretty bummed that JetBlue wants to move the Orlando flights to National. I was panicking for a while when they cut out the early-morning flight from Dulles (this was before they had announced the new flights at National), so when they moved the flights to National it made me oddly grateful we were keeping our well-timed, nonstop flights after all (just at the other airport).

Silver lining, I guess?

While the physical mileage may only be 28 miles between the two airports, the actual travel time is a lot more. Anyone who lives in the Loudon/Fairfax area is very aware of the amount of traffic and the time that it takes to travel just 10 miles especially during rush hour. And, if there is an accident, all bets are off.

I think National is a great airport but Dulles is quite convenient and the differences between the two airports does not make it worth while to go that extra distance to National.

I pleaded with one of my old airline bosses who now works at JetBlue in Orlando to keep the non stop flights from IAD. He said he'll try because he uses those flights for his Wegmans runs. :rotfl: According to him the final decision has not been made yet. It could be a test.

Thank you!! That does explain alot. When I wrote to Jetblue when I found this out, they said there had been no official announcement yet, but currently there are no non-stops available after early June. They would not confirm the information. But obviously if there are none to book, I would have to say the writing is on the wall now. To think we use to have 4 nonstop carriers to Orlando and now only 1, while Reagan has 3 nonstop carriers.

Yep, when I went to buy tickets for October this morning, there were no nonstops from Dulles, just National. And the flights to/from Dulles we waaaaaaaaay more expensive than National. I ended up just going with the flights to/from National (leaving for Orlando early in the morning and returning to D.C. at night) for $195 per person. Now I just have to figure out how we're going to get to National. Does anyone know how much parking is out there?

$20 per day in the garage, $12 per day in the economy lot.

Yes, I checked that out too. Higher than Dulles. I also looked into the shuttle in case we want to fly into DCA and transfer to Dulles for our pick up and that is $42 + tip each way for a party of 2.

My DH just refuses to drive to DCA, so I'm pretty much stuck with UAL.

So we actually were able to book a direct flight from IAD to MCO a few weeks ago on Jetblue for our trip in June -- but we just checked the status of our flight and they moved us to DCA :scared1: Just wanted to let you guys know that when we called Jetblue to find out what was going on, they told us that they are no longer going to have direct flights from IAD. She said that they have "discontinued" direct flights from IAD to MCO and they were just notified today. So sadly, it looks like they are officially no longer going to have direct flights from IAD to MCO. :confused3

Thanks for the update and at least you caught the change early. I think they have some nerve. It's one thing to change your time or your flight, but to just change your airport! wow

And DCA's parking IS NOT CONVENIENT!
Curious why you think DCA parking is not convienent?
