JetBlue and Long Beach - What's the what

Thanks so much for the tips. We really like to take the side streets becuase we hate driving on the freeway down there. Also my husband really likes IN & Out burger, is there one on the way?:cool1:

If you take the Wardlow/Ball Rd route, there is an In-n-Out on Brookhurst St just a couple of blocks north of Ball Rd. Brookhurst St. is not too far from the resort, really like the second to last "major" intersection before the resort area. It really is the easiest one to get to especially with combined with the easy route.

I can't remember if the one on Brookhurst has indoor seating, but the two I listed are the newer floor plans that have both indoor and outdoor seating as well as the drive through. Some of the older locations only have tables outside or just a couple of tables inside. I just can't remember if the one on Brookhurst has been redone or not.

Thanks for the info. It looks like I might be giving Jet Blue and LGB a try.

There is one alternate route you could choose and that is to take Willow which turns into Katella. That route may be a little quicker. To get to Willow you just make a right out of the airport as if you are heading to the 405. Before you get to the freeway, you'll make a left on Willow.

THIS!! We used this route last month, I was not aware Willow turned into Katella (which was where our hotel was). It was a straight shot from the airport to the hotel and could not have been easier.

We love LGB, super easy to navigate through especially with kids. Never in any of our times flying in/out did we feel like "safety" was an issue.

Have fun!

sorry for bump but this seemed like a good thread for my question.

has anyone ever flown an evening jetblue flight into LGB that ended up being delayed until after the car rental places were scheduled to close? (seems to not be an uncommon occurrence from Portland).

do the rental places stay open later than scheduled hours to compensate? or are you forced to take an expensive 2-way cab ride and pick up the car the next morning?

Personally, we've never had JetBlue land late at LGB. We once had a delay leaving LGB, but not the other way around. I would think the best way to handle your question is to call the specific rental agency and ask their policy. They are completely separate from the airlines, however, and I can't imagine that they would cater to airline issues. Unless they are an agency which is open 24 hours, they likely will adhere to their posted hours.

I absolutely adore Jet Blue! My DD3 absolutely loves them as well. She likes finding out what each plane is "named," which you can see when you board/exit since you get to go out on the tarmac. She also loves all the great snacks (blue potato chips and popcorn chips are her favs) and the TV. And of course, I like that she is happy, so I like it, too!
Long Beach is a VERY small airport (my family jokingly calls it the "double wide") but that does make it convenient. We don't rent a car, we just take a cab to whatever Harbor hotel we are staying at. It usually costs about $40-45, so much cheaper than renting a car.
I'd highly recommend giving it a try!
