Any tips for overcoming jet lag? I am a seasoned oversea's traveller, having travelled over the Atlantic at least 15 times in the last 11 years, but something I have noticed in the last 2 years is that the older I get (I am 36) the harder it is to get past the jet lag. I just returned Monday afternoon from the US and the jet lag this time around is worse than it has ever been before. When I went to the US for this trip I had no problems at all so I am mystified as to why it is so difficult on the return (I had the same problem last year when I flew to Italy). DS who is 7 has flown over the Atlantic 10 times and going to the US this time was his most difficult trip, he had jet lag for almost a week, which he never had before. Last night DS and I were both up from 12-3 and we are simply dragging. Any advice?

GO TO BED AND, GET SOME SLEEP!

sorry Debbi, I have no clue on how to switch schedules --- when you learn, let me know! I start a new job in Sept and, staying up until THIS HOUR WILL NOT WORK for me!!!:(

Glad you're back, tho!!! :)

When we do Hawaii trips, the time difference is 5 hours. We like to fly at night. That seems to help for some reason.

Oh Debi I sure hope you get some advice, with 6 week to go before our trip I sure would like to know how you overcome this problem.

On our last trip we were fine on the trip to Italy it was the return that was so bad (never mind that we spent 5 days in the airport with thousands of other Americans trying to return)

For over a week I had jet lag so bad, I would fall asleep in the chair during the day and wake up not knowing where I was. Oh the furniture and the things on the walls were mine, but it was like I was in another dimension looking into my home, but couldn't figure out how to get there and where I was. I think I Dis's until 3 in the morning.

We leave on September 5, will be arriving in Venice by train on the 17th. Sometime in the morning. Not sure about times yet. We will be staying at The Savola $ Jolanda. We will be in Venice for 2 nights the 17th and the 18th sure hope we can meet up on of those days.

Debbi, I have the same problem everytime I go to Spain, my kids will never go to sleep on Spanish time because it's 6 hours too early for them , and then when we return to the US it takes us a few days just to get back into the old schedule. The only thing I can tell you is , rest if you feel tired, eventually in a few days you will be back to normal. Welcome home!
