I was just wondering for those of you that have booked non-stop flights with Jet Blue out of Portland ME, do they ever get changed to flights that stop at JFK? I'd like to consider using them for next March, but I'm afraid if I book a non-stop flight, it could get changed at some point. We've never flown JB, but have heard good things about them and would like to give it a try.

But, I would rather pay more, and drive to Manchester,NH to fly SW and guarantee a non-stop flight. At that time of year, and going down for a cruise, I want to minimize the risk of weather delays. I know it could still happen, and we are going a couple of days early, but still, you never know. Also, I really don't want to deal with JFK either, with 3 kids, luggage, etc. I've been spoiled with NS flights for vacations and don't want to give that up. ;)

Besides, we drive from Nova Scotia as it is, I don't think it's a lot to demand that we have a non stop flight. :rolleyes1

hmmm...I live 15 min out of PWM. I'm not 100% sure if they can/will change a direct flight from PWM to ORL but I can't imagine they would. I've always booked Jetblue flights that stop at JFK just because they are cheaper (my trips are always el cheapo). I do know someone who has flown direct to and from with Jetblue. They only offer those flights a few times a week on certain days. Where they already have several flights that stop at JFK I can't imagine they would adjust an already direct flight to make a stop in NY. I would book it. As far as I'm concerned people book direct flights for specific reasons and that's why they offer them and charge a little extra. I would book it and put up a big fuss if they actually make you stop at JFK. When in doubt, call the airline before you book. Happy traveling!

Also, if you are willing to drive to BOS, they have lots of options for direct flights to ORL. I've been doing that now with other trips. We park our car at the Concord Coach station in Portland right off of 295 (4 bucks a day), take a bus that drops us right off at Logan Airport (45 bucks r/t), and hop right on direct flights. I've also found it to be WAY cheaper to fly out of Boston rather than PWM. To us, it's worth the inconvenience of flying out of our home airport.

I've never flown JB out of Portland but have flown it out of Boston many times. They have never changed from non stop to a stopped flight before. I have had at least one trip where JB changed the flight time and I called and was able to be moved to a more convenient flight.

I've never had JetBlue change a direct flight out of PWM to MCO and I fly them quite frequently. That being said, anything is possible.

I agree - anything is possible with flights from PWM. If this is really important, booking via Southwest from Manchester is the safest option.

Good luck.

I fly from Portland to Orlando a couple times a year on the non-stop and have never had my flight changed to a connecting flight. I think it is VERY unlikely that they will change it to a connecting flight, but I guess anything is possible!

Out of PWM, Airtrain has changed my non-stop flight to a stopover at BWI, but Jetblue has never done this to me. I think Jetblue is great!

I have been booking the non-stop flights from PWM to MCO a few times a year for the past few years and they have not changed the flight to have a JFK stop for any of those in the past, but like others have said.... I guess I'll never know if someday that will change, but so far so good :thumbsup2

I have booked already for August (non-stop both ways) so I hope that I have not jinxed myself with my response that they expect them to remain non-stop! ;)

I LOVE Jet-Blue  and usually find that the non-stops from PWM to MCO are sometimes cheaper than the flights with a JFK stop and I think it is because it is harder for them to fill that non-stop flight so they discount it to try and fill that plane. So far for me the non-stops from Boston to MCO are usually a bit cheaper, but not different enough in price to make up the cost and time for the extra travel. I always check though, just in case!:goodvibes

I hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip! pixiedust:

We've been using JetBlue to travel from PWM to MCO since they arrived in Portland. We always have booked a direct flight. Last week I received an email advising me that our March 2012 flight had in fact been changed both ways from direct to a stop over in New York. The worst part of the change was on the return flight where we went from leaving Orlando at 1:00PM to a 9:35AM departure. In searching the JetBlue site I don't see any direct flights after January 2012. We've gone to Manchester a few time and flown Southwest....the last three times our shortest "delay" was 1 1/2 hours and and the longest was 6 hours. All were reports a equipment problems. I'm beginning to think they need to start charging for bags and put the money into upkeep of the aircraft.

I booked that non stop too(for March also) and they contacted me and gave me bad times also. I could have gone non stop from BGR on Allegiant into Sanford but didn't to save money and time. Now it is only money and so much extra time. To make matters worse I paid extra for exit row seat and they wanted to charge me more for them adding the extra legs to my trip. I was on the phone over 2 hours trying to straighten it out. Not worth the money I saved. Live and learn.
