Jet Blue/JFK Connection

I have only flown Jet Blue once before from Buffalo to JFK. I generally fly SW because I like the direct flights and you can't beat the prices generally. We are using Jet Blue for our trip in just two weeks connecting in JFK. My question is this. We have 30-35 minutes between flights. Should I be concerned about our luggage not making the second flight? Flying direct, I never had to worry before. Of course, on the way home, I could care less. I generally don't like to fly with a carry on but wondering if I should consider taking one with shorts, etc. Also, this may sound like a stupid question--do we need to "check-in" anywhere for the second leg of the flight? It's been "years" since I've flown with a layover. Thanks for the help.

Wow! I wouldn't be concerned with the luggage not making it, I'd be concerned with YOU not making it!

And yes, I'd carry a change of clothes and toiletries with me.

You need to check in a the gate for the second leg. You should already have a boarding pass and seat assignment though--generally these are issued when you check in for the first leg.

Ducklite is correct, you only have to check in at the gate and you should already have a boarding pass for your connection. I have made several trips with connections over the past 5 years and I have missed (not my fault but the airline's) my connection but they have (thankfully) always been coming home and they've always managed to get me on the next flight out. I have had short layovers like yours and the crew will almost always call in ahead to let them know you're coming. They do their best to get you on the connecting flight. I fly Jetblue all the time, and i know for a fact that whenever there are other flights that are delayed and they have connections, the connecting flight always waits!

Jetblue is pretty good about that, so I wouldnt worry about not making it! My Boyfriend mother is a flight attendant for them, and she says they always wait for connecting flight as well.

Plus- Jetblue's JFK Terminal isnt too big,,,, you wont have to walk (or run ) too far.

Dont worry about it at all!!

They ALWAYS wait for u!!!

from what I saw when i flew jet blue.... all of their gates are right next to each other in the same terminal..... so there is no need to run across the whole airport to get to a connecting flight
