November 10- 11 are the dates of the NJ Teachers Convention. Jersey Week is the week of the convention- this year, Sunday, November 6 through Sunday, November 13. The later in the week, the more NJ folks.
We've gone during this week in 2003. I was so scared it was going to be a nightmarish mob scene. I was shocked. It was actually pretty quiet that week. I will say we did notice an influx in NJ plates on vehicles, but that was about it. I will never hesitate to go at that time again.
Good grief! I think all I ever post here are messages that begin with "What is?" Talk about a Newbie. So far I've had to ask what is a Dole Whip? What is school house bread? (I'm sensing a theme here )... So here I go again - what is "Jersey week"?

Jersey week is a term given to a week in November due to NJ schools being closed for 2 days for teachers conventions. This often coincides with election day and many families use the week to go to Disney since the kids won't be missing too much school. I've lived in NJ all my life but only learned of the term Jersey week when I started visiting this board, LOL!!!!
I would expect the crowds to be slightly higher this year due to November 11th (Veteran's Day) falling during the conference. We have been there the last two years and notice that things get notoriously busy on that day. It's my DS's birthday so it is aggrevating to him when his favorite rides have long lines. A lot of Florida schools seem to have this day off so there are a lot of locals.
Yes, the week you will be there is the infamous "Jersey Week". But, don't worry too much- we went during Jersey Week last year, and we still did everything we wanted to. Yes, there were people around- but LOTS less than summer, spring break, or Christmas. It is still the less busy season, after all. With a little planning, you will be fine. Just plan on getting to the parks early, and use those EMH hours- they will really help maximize your time in the parks.
I'd worry more about Super Soap Weekend, Veterens' Day, and the last weekend of Food & Wine Festival. But, you'll be at WDW- you'll have a great time even if it is busy!
They might- last year, MK was scheduled to close at 8pm on Friday. When we got there, they had changed the hours to 10pm close. So it could happen. Also, the hours could be extended because of Veterens' Day and Super Soap weekend- between morning and evening EMH and possibly later closing times, you should be able to enjoy the parks all you want. November really is a great time to go- the weather is gorgeous and the crowds, even with Jersey Week and all the rest, are not at all bad. Have a great time!

Good point....We don't call it Jersey Week in Jersey. In other words, nobody in Jersey says, "Hey, what are you doing for Jersey Week?" I've only heard it called Jersey Week here on the DIS boards, too. And, since next year my oldest will be in kindergarten, we are going to making our first Jersey Week trip in 2005! Can't wait.
No offense but we were there for "Jersey week" in 2003 and talk about feeling like the minority. hehe There was even a time when we were at Sea World and the guy who warms up the audiance for one of the shows asked if there was ANYONE in the audiance that was NOT from New Jerssey?
