Day 8 - November 5

AK today. Unfortunately, it turned out to be EE day at AK. Had I known that, I would have planned the week differently. Got FP for Safari. Did Gorilla Trail and Harambe shops before riding. Ran into a friend of mine from home while in line - another Jersey person.

Had our required cinnamon bun stop at Tusker House. Then went to Dinoland. For some reason, we had never seen Tarzan Rocks even though we've been to AK on 7 or 8 different trips. Got FP for Primeval Whirl and caught the 12:00 show of Tarzan. Great show - really high energy - like a rock concert. Those guys work hard.

Had fun on Primeval Whirl, then had lunch at Pizzafari - a warning to all. The chicken strips meal is grilled, not fried. That would have been fine. But what they don't tell you is that it is COLD. DD and DW both ordered it and both were less than thrilled.

Browsed the various shops on the way out of the park. Went back to the condo to pack and relax a little before going to MK to spend our final evening. We started with Dole Whip - no trip is complete without it. It still tastes as good as ever but they made the cups smaller. Rode PoC and BTMRR. Had dinner at Cosmic Ray's but missed Sonny Eclipse. I hope he'll be back.

After dinner, rode WEDway (TTA). Very pretty right at sunset time. Got FP for Space Mtn. DD wanted to ride Alpha track - we did Omega the other day but she prefers Alpha. Browsed Sir Mickey's and the castle shop. Saw Philharmagic again then did Space Mtn with our FP.

Worked our way out through the Main Street shops, took some nite photos (which came out very well) and went back to finish packing.

Day 8 and 9 - Return home :(

Loaded up and checked out. On the road at 8:38. Had an early lunch at Waffle House (wanted to eat in Florida where restaurants are all smoke-free). Had dinner at Denny's in Rocky Mount, NC. Actually same place we ate last year. It was a little early, but decided to spend the night at the Fairfield Inn in Rocky Mt.

Next morning, had breakfast at the hotel and were on the road about 8:15. Stopped for lunch at Potomac Mills. Can't pass by without visiting the Disney outlet there. Arrived home about 3:00.

We had a great week. We often take one or both of our mothers with us. This time it was just the 3 of us and it was really nice to spend some good family time without having to please any other people. We plan to go again next year for Jersey week, but we would really like to get there before that. We're planning to make our first visit to Disneyland in August so I guess that will have to satisfy our Disney craving until November.

Thanks for reading. Happy to answer any questions.

Thanks for the report disneysteve. I really enjoyed reading a report from another Jersey Resident.

Sound like so much fun Steve !

DD wanted to ride Alpha track - we did Omega the other day but she prefers Alpha.

Thanks

Space Mtn. has 2 tracks, Alpha to the left and Omega to the right. Alpha has more hills and ups and downs. Omega has more curves and spiraling, fewer drops. Most people probably don't realize the two tracks are different. DW prefers Omega because she lives the curves but DD prefers Alpha. If I had to pick, I guess I prefer Omega also.

Thanks for the great trip report!

I just read all of your trip reports for this trip, they were great! Thanks for taking the time to type them up:teeth:

And I didn't know that the two tracks were different either. I have always gone to the right I think. Guess, I'll have to try the other track on my next trip!

I just heard about that, two tracks ... I believe we went right... the first time, but I swear the second time I was like ... hmmm that wasn't as scary as the first time... so maybe we went left the second time !

I heard Walt originally was going to have the track outside the mountain then drop you into a "hole" to the DARK inside ... how cool would that have been !!! Wonder why they changed the plan ??? anyway ......... :)

You certainly packed a lot of stuff on your trip, but it's hard not to. Every year I swear we won't be commados but once we get on a roll we keep going . Glad you had such a good time. It was a great report.

I hope I didn't give the impression that we went commando-style. That couldn't be farther from the truth. We took this trip at a really leisurely pace. We had a nice breakfast in the morning, stopped for snacks whenever one of us was hungry, took breaks whenever any of us were tired and never rushed or ran to anything. And when we were all out of steam, we called it a day - a couple of days that was only about 4pm.

We did accomplish a whole lot. But that is because we know our way around, took advantage of Fastpass, got to the parks before opening each day and didn't have to waste time in lines since it was off-season and their were barely any lines anyway. One big advantage to going every year is that we don't feel we have to see and do everything. If we miss something one trip, we know we'll catch it next time.

thanks steve
sounds like a great trip
