Jersey week 2011

Any DVC'ers from Jersey want to venture a guess when Jersey week will be in 2011? TIA, my obsession has gotten the best of me and so I am sitting here looking forward to planning next year's trip.

Down here it is the first week of November. We already were planning ahead too! Our school gives the kids off that whole week instead of breaking up the days off t/o the month. We are in south Jersey.

Thanks- I am thinking that the second week of November 2011 might be a good time to go because Election Day and Veteran's Day are in the same week that year. If it works out that way (DD will be in Kindergarten in NY), I was curious if my SIL's kids may be off that week too in New Jersey. We try to plan to go at the same time but she has now switched to Thanksgiving week, which is a bit much for me to really consider when DD will only be in K. (DH and I don't have to really focus on her missing too many school days just yet- right?) Thanks again!

Remember those are Thursdays and Fridays. Therefore the likely vacation is will include the following Saturday and Sunday.

I still think it depends on your child in reguards to how much school can be missed. My DD6 is very quick on the uptake when it comes to concepts/reading/letter/numbers/math etc. She missed 8 school days when we went in May. She had no problems jumping right back in with the class. I would maybe reconsider with my DD5 because she is needs to go over things a bit before she grasps them. DD2 is like DD6 and maybe even quicker becasue of her sisters. I personally would NOT want to go during Thanksgiving week because of crowds reguardless of amount of school they would miss, but that is just me.

I agree, every child is different and we won't really know how DD will handle missing school until she get's into 2nd or 3rd grade. With next year's trip, I feel that if she would miss 3 days Thanksgiving week or miss 3 days around Election/Veteran's Day, then my choice is made, we will go in early November. Since the Jersey schools will only have a couple of days off and not the full week, I am guessing that my SIL will not go then because she really needs to keep an eye on how much her kids miss school.

This will be our first Jersey Week, now that my kids are in public school next year.. We are going 10/31-11/7 and then a 4 day cruise until the 11th. They are only missing 4 days, which is cool!!!

We will be staying at Kidani for the first time, and I am looking forward to it.

How is it possible that your kids will only miss 4 days of school? I thought the only days off in NJ are the 10th and 11th? If that's the case then I think my SIL will change when she goes to Disney.. Thanks!

It really depends on the school district. Our district used to close all week of the convention, but recently changed it to half-days Mon - Wed and closed on Thur - Fri. The last two years they are now closed the entire week of Thanksgiving though?!
