I have never liked Jerry Lewis. Not even when I was a kid and he was younger. I do not look forward to the telethon that dominates the entire Labor Day weekend on whatever network. I find him annoying. I am sure that the good outweighs the bad...somehow, but I would prefer not to endure it. Am I the only one that can't stand Jerry Lewis???

I can't STAND him...YUCK..I remember him talking nasty about Lucille Ball and how women couldn't be commedians

I thought I was the only one to hate him, he was never funny, just loud. I feel the same about Robin Williams

I truly admire him for what he has done for MDA. Our family has been touched with MS so I have reason to like him.

Lewis Sets Tongues Wagging At Aspen Festival

Jerry Lewis proved himself dumbfoundingly politically incorrect on Saturday during an appearance at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, CO. As reported by the Associated Press, Lewis was asked which female comics he admires. "I don't like any female comedians, " he recalled. When Martin Short, who was moderating the panel reminded him of Lucille Ball and remarked, "You must have loved her, " Lewis replied "No, " then added, "A woman doing comedy doesn't offend me but sets me back a bit. ... I think of her as a producing machine that brings babies in the world."

If he were ever funny, even once in his life, he may find a way to criticize comediennes, but he was never funny. He was loud, annoying, stupid, dumb. I couldn't stand him when I was a kid. The Three Stooges were hilarious compared to him. Laural and Hardy were a laugh a minute compared to him. What an arrogant person. I honestly feel that his work with MDS is more about HIM than about "THE KIDS". All arrows point to Jerry. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

You are right, Dawn :rotfl2: but I still love his movies :rotfl2:

I cant believe he said all that stuff. :confused3 :sad2:

I don't care for him. I will say this as a fire fighter's daughter growing up working fill the boot campaigns with my dad. I have seen many familys over the years that the money he raises for MDA benefits. So every Labor day no matter how annoying it may be I will turn it on for just a bit.

A college roommate of my dh's played in the band at the telethon where Jerry was a couple of times in the '80's. He said he saw a kid walk up to him and ask him for his autograph and he said "Beat it, kid" and walked away. I never thought he was funny but I don't think he's a nice person either.

Those anecdotes have followed Jerry forever. He pretends to be a nice person but I haven't seen any evidence that he really is.

Have to jump in here for a sec....Jerry Lewis is merely a figure head for this telethon. The true heros for this cause are The Tall Cedars of Lebanon. They are the ones that do all the work, when this telethon was first started, they needed a "big" name to draw in the crowds, back in the day he was the one. Jerry Lewis is an arrogant big mouth (in my up close and personal experience)

I will take that into consideration. He has raked in alot of money for MDA IMHO. If it weren't for his telethons, would there be all of that $$$ raised? I think not.

I can take or leave his comedy schtick, but think that he was brilliant in The King of Comedy, a movie directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert DeNiro. It's a dark satire about celebrity and what people will do to be famous. Jerry Lewis plays a not-so-nice late night talk show host, one of the few if not only serious roles he's ever played.

I didn't like his humor when he was paired with Dean Martin and couldn't sit through his movies.

Only took till post #5 before the French bashing started. :rolleyes1

He's a real piece of trash, just like many of the other entertainers from that era. The Rat Pack... A bunch of scumbags with money.

I can't say that I like him at all.
