This morning, Keith was kind enough to offer to let me go ahead and play on my own in the Magic Kingdom for a couple hours, while packed up much of our belongings. He knew that we would be up late since hed finally found his excuse to eat at Ohana again (dinner with Chris and Chandra). : ) That way, with most everything already packed, there would be one less thing to do Saturday morning, on our last day.
I took advantage of the time on my own to do some things I expected he wouldnt have been as interested in.
First off, I stopped off at the Emporium, to see if they carried a particular sock design in a womens size. I didnt find the socks, but I did find Valentines antenna balls. At the register, the CM commented at my purchase and I found out that had only just been released that morning! Needless to say, I was very happy about this timing. : )
It was off to Fantasyland next. Other than the tea cups, carrousel, and Dumbo, I went on everything. I really enjoy comparing and contrasting the versions at DLR and WDW. I think DLs its a small world is better and not just because of the exterior, while the other attractions are mostly rather different conceptions of the same theme so I dont think one excels over the other. The one exception is that I think WDWs Snow White does have a better ending because its not so abrupt. Oh, and I also saw the infamous IaSW clown, after reading about him online. I now want to know the history on that! ; )
I then also went to the Country Bear Jamboree. This is the same show I remember as a kid, but, as in September, Im disoriented by the layout of the theater. (Buff, Max, and Melvin are on the opposite wall than they were in Disneyland.)
After the show, it was about time to find a train station to meet up with Keith. Hed come up with a rather creative meeting place. So that I would have something to do while waiting, he suggested I head to the closest station at 1PM and hop on the train, taking a seat as far in the back as possible. He would then be at the Main Street Station about 1:15 and board once he arrived. If he was late, I could just ride around again, which I ended up doing. When we came into the Main Street Station the second time, Keith was finally there and one of the conductors joked about my still being on the train. (I suppose Im nowhere near breaking anyones record, but between riding on my own and then doing one loop with him along, I was on the train for about 45 minutes!)
In having a conversation with the joking conductor, it came up that were from Northern California and theres a great railroad museum here. We were stuck for a while at one stop due to a light being out, so she pointed out another CM who had been to the museum recently. We had a nice chat with the second CM. That CM, in turn, pointed out a man who was a retired engineer and we talked with him briefly, too. Thats something weve discovered at DL, too, that the CMs that work the train are especially into their work.
Speaking of CMs into their work, one of our other stops together was the Haunted Mansion. I think every single CM was frowning and/or making comments such as step lively the dead move faster than you do!
We also caught the last Diamond Horseshoe Review show of the day. Considering that the next day would be the final day ever, we were very glad we managed to catch the show. It was the last performance for Wild Cat Kate, so I guess there must be a couple of casts, with another hostess to perform on Saturday. It was a very entertaining, fun show.
The day went by quickly and soon it was time to head to the Polynesian. We were seated at Ohana just before the fireworks began. I appreciate that the servers pause in their activity when the fireworks take place so that guests can watch the whole show uninterrupted. While the music wasnt piped in, we also caught the Electrical Water Pageant from our table near the window. Dinner was again excellent and we had such a great time with Chris and Chandra. (And, as we had expected, it was another late night, but it was a wonderfully fun night!)
