PRE-TRIP REPORT HERE

Today is the first day of our trip, I am so happy to have left the aftermath of Hurricane Ike in Houston and travel to the wonderful world of Disney. Woke up about 5am, could not sleep. I guess I was too excited. We got ready, hit the starbucks and off to the airport. We ate breakfast at the airport, it was not that good. Ugh!
Our flight was only about 1hr and 40 minutes, we got here fast. Checked in at magical express and walked right on to the bus. Waited only a few moments and off to Pop Century we went.

I am leaving out that when we got to the airport, I had to hit the Disneystore and buy some pins to start trading. We won't talk about that.

We arrived at the hotel, checked in and went shopping at the gift shop at Pop Century. They walked around a bit to take pictures. The we caught a bus to Downtown Disney. We went to the west side first where we went straight to Bongos (Gloria and Emilio's restuarant) for a cuban sandwich. Since they stopped serving sandwiches at 4pm, I went to the dinner menu instead of complaining that I wanted my sandwich. I had Chuletas de Puerco (pork chops) and they were oh so delicioso.
After lunch, we walked through pleasure island to get to the marketplace. We shopped til we could drop literally. They had a sale if you spend $60, you got a dufflebag for $20, which is better than paying $100 for another suitcase here which we already need.
Elisabeth let me spend $150 on pins (limited edition Haunted Mansions, YES). After that, my knee was really hurting me so we went back to our hotel. We got back and our drinks from GardenGrocer.com was here and our suitcase. A little time to blog before calling it a night. We are uploading our photos to Flickr, so if you wanna look around here it is:

The day started off at 5am. Couldn't sleep...I was way too excited. So by the time we packed up the car and headed off to the airport, we were a good 3 hours early. Had icky airport breakfast...it was kind of gross...then we met some more people waiting for the same flight going to Disney too. Jenny was funny today. She kept talking to people and it was really funny to see her so relaxed and talkative. If you know her...you know she is not normally like that.

We actually kept running into the same mother and daughter we met at the airport all day today. It was kind of funny. After coming to the resort (Pop Century), and looking around our section, we were bored and hungry, so we decided to not wait for our groceries that were being delivered, and go downtown to get something to eat. Bongo's...we have been waiting to come back here since we planned the trip. This is one of the few things we do every single time we come to Disney. jenny was disappointed that she couldn't get her Cuban sandwich, but she found an excellent substitute of which she loved! Another thing that Jenny is getting so much better at...trying new foods. I am so proud of her for being so adventuresome.

After dinner we walked around downtown some more...we took pictures of new things that we hadn't seen before, walked around, and then decided to shop. I have been looking for a new carry-on bag for weekend trips, and it just so happened that the World of Disney store was having a special on a rolling duffle bag for $20! I only had to buy $60 worth of stuff to get it too...I thought, "how hard could it be to spend $60?" Well...a lot harder than I thought it would be. I wanted to be selfish, but I couldn't. I bought myself a t-shirt, a wand for someone at work, the Tower of Terror Clue game, and the Make Your Own Villain Monopoly game for Jenny (she collects Monopoly games). So all in all...I totally spent double my alloted money. Oh well. It could have been worse.

After all of that we went and bought a whole bunch of pins, met this crazy dude at the pin store, and met up with the two ladies we met at the airport again. We came back and I tried to start the internet...to no avail. Had to actually call the hotel's tech people to help set it up. So much for the broadband card. And to top it off, I didn't even realize my camera was on manual focus from my art...and so I only got around 10 photos of the day. It is my day of oh wells.

Tomorrow should be even better. Epcot and the first day of the food and wine festival and Japan for dinner! I am going to be in hog heaven tomorrow. And...I get to ride Soarin for the very first time tomorrow...should be a blast from what I keep reading.
