Day 2 Friday Jan 6th
We woke up bright and early to get to MGM.. This was our only MGM day. MGM has 2 of my favorite rides, but it's my least favorite park. I should also point out that it was FREEZING..It was in the 40's in the parks that day and that night was really cold
SO we headed for the POFQ bus stop.. The bus luck stuck with us and ours was the last to arrive.
WE got too MGM before it opened and were at the end of the main road when it opened.. We did the traditional rush towards the TOT and RockNRoller coaster. We grabbed fast passes for RNR and went on it. WE walked right on to the ride,, That ride is as good the 10th time as it was the first.
We headed right from there to the TOT. We only got 2 drops
bummer. It was still fun though.
We then went back to RNR and chit chatted with the nice English man in the line with us.
We wanted to get to the first showing of the Lights and Motor Car show. I was not looking forward to this,as I didn;t hink it was my kind of show. I ended up enjoying it.It was much better than I expected . We had one last ride to goon and that was the Great Movie Ride. I just love this ride and it didn't dissapoint. We got the gangster this time..That's 2 gangsters and one cowboy for me
By then we were starving and quite done with MGM. Our plan was to take the boat to the Dolphin, explore it and check out the boardwalk while having some lunch.
The Dolphin is beautiful and is in the running for our next trip,so we wanted to check it out. We ended going to ESPN zone for lunch. We had Nachos, BBQ wings and CHili dogs.I lived the wings...The nachos were Ok,but I don't care for chili on nachos..The guys loved the chili dogs. I thought they were gross..
we then decided to head back to the room to get another tape for the video recorder and take a break .
At the room I had some coffe(brought coffee from home) and added a little of the alcohol boby got in Germany..Some sort of peppermint stuff.. Anyway, big mistake. I'm not much of a drinker and so it hit me pretty hard.. We waited and waited for a bus to the MK..5 busses came and went and then I saw an EPCOT bus coming.I figured we could get the Epcot bus and take the monorail to the MK..I was just tired of waiting. When we reached the TTC I saw the boat launch and got the bright idea to take it across bay lake to the MK..It was FREEZING cold and really windy. That was a really bad choice, but at least the liquered up coffee kept me warmer than I would have been
I love that feeling you get when you first walk through the gates and see the castle. We headed straight to the left and went towards POTC. POTC is my first ride whenever I first get to the MK..If I don't go their I truly believe I will have bad luck the whole trip.
WE headed from there towards BTMR.. When we passed Splash Mountain we noticed there was no spray of water at the end, because it was so cold..There was no chance at all that I was going on Splash in the cold...I can't stand that ride as it is..
The line for BTMR was too long(only half hour) but we figured we could hit it early in the AM. Instead we headed for the Haunted Mansion..This is another of my all time favorite rides..I think the HM at WDW is much better than the one at DL,and of course POTC is much better at DL..The sound wasn't working properly in our doom buggy so they offered us another ride.We turned them down.We have been on it so may times we could recite it by heart anyway.
Next comes one of my favorite times on any Disney trip..The time when I get to torture ED with a ride on one of my personal Favs. It's a Small world..Ed would rather have his fingernails ripped out one at a time than ride IASW,but he did it for me. We had fun though because we spent the ride chattng with this funny AA family that was cracking up at the afros, some of hem purple on all of the Black dolls.. What's up with that?
By then we were getting hungry and had plans for Lobster and steaks..(Bobby Lobster, Me steak,ed who knows). We figured we would head for DTD and go to Capn Jacks..I was wary about this meal because I've heard bad things about it.. we got there and founf out there was a 90 minute wait, not just there but at all of DTD. We figured we would walk around and window shop..It was so cold that after a short time we went back in the restaurant to wait.We got lucky and found out we could eat at the bar.. Ed and I shared a steak plate and Bobby had a steak and added the lobster tail for 12 $ Servie was fast, drinks were good ,although the portions were a bit small.. The spinach dip was good, although the chips left something to be desired..The bread was also very good
I'd give Captain Jacks an 8 out of 10. I would eat ther again. We saved more than 20$ with the DDE
After that it was time to go home and to bed.
Tomorrow
MK and EPCOT again
