Recently went to Jennifer's Convertibles and wondering what your experiences have been. Prices were nice but wondering what others have experienced in delivery and follow up.

Furniture is what I do for a living.
Jennifer convertable is low end.You get what you pay for. If your looking for something in your family roomthat will last a long time ..jennifer is not for you. If you arelooking for something to use up and toss and not feel bad for doing so ...jennifer is for you. If you are looking for a living room that NO ONE sits in and it needs to look nice, jennifer is for you.

The furniture industry is in worse condition then the auto industry right now ..you just don'thear much about it.
If jennifers CS sucks right now just be patient and persistent (yet kind) and they will take care of you, that isthe kind ofcompany they are.

I bought a sofa/love seat combo from JC when I was starting out right out of college, 20 years ago..... So, things MAY have changed, but based on PP, I'm guessing not. Anyway.... I'm a single woman living alone, working long hours, so not home very much. With MINIMAL usage, the set only lasted 3 years. I mean MINIMAL!!! I was the only one living there, with a small cat and the sofa/love seat could goes DAYS without anyone using it. Personally, I'd stay away.......

We're in an area with 3 furniture stores and 2 department stores that carry furniture, that is it. It is troubling how quickly furniture stores open and close. Three years ago we had seven furniture stores and 5 department stores that carried furniture. Between the prices, delivery fees and the lack of in stock items, the entire process has become a nightmare.

I bought a living room set from Jennifer Convertibles 10 years ago when I graduated from college. My experience has not been bad. We are still using the furniture, although we will need to replace it soon as it has started to look worn. I have a 7 year old and a 5 year old and we have moved 3 times, and we've never had a problem.

Can you recommend any companies that, in your opinion, offer better quality and service than Jennifer without totally breaking the bank? I'm in the market for furniture too, and I'm prepared to spend some $$ for good quality that will last but I don't have a fortune.

I have had good luck with lazy boy 2 for one sales. The one in our area runs them several times a year and you can buy the sofa and get the love seat free. The furniture has been good quality in my experience. I have a set andso does my mom. They run about $1000 on 2 for one for a mid range set.

That has been our experience too -- bought a set for our first apartment, moved it twice and then gave it to SIL when we ordered new furniture for our new house (which turned out to be total crap -- we should have simply gotten new slipcovers for the old stuff). SIL had the set for about 4 years and simply got new slipcovers from time to time when she wanted to change things up a bit. It went through several kids, ours and hers, and has held up pretty well. It's not heirloom quality but it certainly did the trick for us.

I bought a set about 15 years ago, single woman (with dogs). It lasted a good 7-8 years, and it was more the upholstery that looked worn/old than any structural difficulty with it. When I bought it I didn't have the dogs, or I would have gotten leather and a darker fabric. With more appropriate fabric I could have probably gotten more use out of it.

My Dh and I bought a living room set about 8 years ago from JC and we are still using it. I think it may be about time to start looking for a new set as it is starting to appear worn, but we got 8 good years out of it.

The delivery was absolutely horrible. I swear I wanted to kill them when they finally showed up. The 1st delivery fell through because their was some problem with the truck. I don't really remember the specifics.

The 2nd delivery didn't happen because the drivers were tired and decided that they didn't want to come to my house and deliver it and wanted to go home instead. I was fuming. I called the store and there was nothing they could do as the delivery is contracted out to another company. The sales girl said that she called her boss an corporate but all to no avail. THEY DID NOT CARE!!!

Finally on the 3rd attempt it was delivered. Needless to say, the lazy idiots did not get a tip, even though they had to carry everything (couch, love seat, tables) up a flight of stairs.

Due to the delivery issue I will never again buy from JC. Eight years later and I still get steamed thinking about it. :rotfl:

Raymour and Flannigan has great products and their delivery is excellent. Don't know if they have one in your area, but if they do, check them out.

My husband and I bought a 3 seat reclining couch from JC. It took a long time to be delivered, and when it finally was delivered, a part was broken with the reclining mechanism. We called to complain and they wouldn't deliver a new couch. They told us we had to have it repaired, which took THREE MONTHS! When I buy something, I expect it to not be broken, and if it is broken, I expect a NEW replacement, not a repair. No matter how many times we complained, we got nowhere. We were polite, too. The store said we have to deal with the repair center, the repair center said we have to contact the store. We looked into small claims and were told we'd have to sue the store, but we didn't think we'd win because of their policy where we have to deal with the repair center. It was so confusing!

After it was repaired, the mechanism was still bent, so we had to wait another 2 months to have it repaired a 2nd time. After the 2nd time, they didn't put it back together right, so we had to wait a few more weeks for a repair guy to come fix it. Since then, it's been okay, but the quality sucks and won't last long at all. We'll be moving to Florida from California in a year, so we don't care about how long it lasts. But their customer service and policies leave a lot to be desired and I will NEVER be their customer again.

I had a Jennifer Convertable sleeper sofa. It broke within 8 years; the upholstery also wore out about that time. I don't think I'd buy another sofa from them.

Not Ashley!

Ha, I have to agree with that! For some things I'm sure they're fine. They lost me when they tried to explain to me why it was SO much more valuable and important to have faux leather on the back of your couch than real leather.

We bought a sofabed and matching armchair from JC a little over 12 years ago. Our set has only recently started to show wear (probably about 8 months ago). The structure is fine, the sofa bed still works fine. I haven't had any issues with delivery problems or customer service (we also bought two love seats about 8 years ago which are ruined with kid stains but are not worn out). I think the furniture is a good deal if you don't expect the pieces to last a lifetime.

Do a search for Sherrill furniture.com if you are looking for sofa's etc... the have a program called Plaza and there are nice frames and fabrics for about 1600.

Lee industry's is a good company for the money .

My aunt has had hers since about 1994 mine that I bought in 2000 was done by 2004.

I bought my first and only Brand New sofa from JC in 2003. I absolutely, absolutely loved it. It was demin and filled with feathers. Ahhh sooo comfortable. Everyone loved that sofa. Until my kids slept on it a few too many times and had accidents.

Sadly it went bye-bye last February, so 6 years? But only because of the urine smell. Structurally the sofa was fine

When my replacement sofas (hand-me downs) are gone, which is actually very very soon, I plan on going back to JC

Two words...STAY AWAY!
I spent 2500 bucks on a couch in there..and it looked like crap within MONTHS.... We didn't even use it much as it was in our basement that we NEVER went in. We did not even have kids at the time to abuse it... RUN RUN RUN!

I purchased a sofa and loveseat from Haverty's about 1 year ago and it is holding up. I did have a problem with the first sofa but they ordered me a new one without a fight. I have heard bad things about JC. Most of JCPenney's furniture is suppose to be good.
