Welcome everyone! I thought I would start my TR off with vendor reviews - but first a little refresher:

Welcome Dessert Party - October 10, 2009 - Italy Isola West

Wedding Date: October 12, 2009
Ceremony Location: EPCOT France
Reception Location: Living Seas Salon

Here is a link to all of our pictures: http://www.ourmagicalwedding.com/weddingphotos

David and Vicki also did a slideshow for us of some of our pics - check it out:
http://shareitvideo.com/watch.php?v=241555575390830

AND... if you want any info on planning, here is my PJ

OK, here we go with reviews - i will break them up in 2 posts because they are rather long!

Beaute Speciale – Ana: A+ My hair did not budge!! My hair is pretty straight normally, and I wanted long curls and a half up half down style. From personal experience I can tell you my curls usually fall out in about an hour. I don’t know what Ana did, but my hair looked perfect from getting dressed that morning, all the way through our reception and dancing, to more pictures after. All of the bridesmaids hair styles also stayed in place and looked great!

Carolyn Allens: B We had couple of minor snafus with Carolyn Allens… a few weeks before the wedding I had called to make sure that all the guys had sent in measurements etc. While on the phone with Keith, I adjusted the times for the tux fitting and the dress steaming. Originally tux fitting was 9am Friday, dress steaming at 1:00 on Sunday. I changed it to 8am and 1:30 respectively. Well, I called the day before the fitting to reconfirm everything – and spoke to Keith again. He had no record of the change to the times we had spoken about. He still had us down for 9am and 1pm. Fine, we got that fixed. THEN the day of the dress steaming, I got a call from them asking when I was going to be back in my room – which confused me since my fiancé was waiting in the room for the steamers… turns out they were not at the right room. JEEZ! Tux fitting itself was fine, and they did and OK job with steaming. They made it easy for us by bringing tuxes to us, and letting us leave them with bell services after.

Planner: Ken Weaver A Ken was awesome. He made a lot of things happen for us (like keeping David and Vicki), and did everything he could to make sure things went smoothly. In the planning process he also helped point out ways we could save money. He has been at DFTW the longest (along with Marion I think) so he knows his stuff. We were very very happy with Ken, and feel lucky our request for him was granted at the beginning. I know there were times I must have drove him nuts, but it never showed – a true professional and a great guy.

Assistant: Jen Flores B- Jens grade actually would have been lower, but she redeemed herself shortly before the wedding. Through out the process we felt that whenever Jen answered our emails it was like she didn’t actually read my questions or she would give us answers that didn’t apply to us and the venues we’d picked. AND the biggest complaint we had was her taking vacation without notice. Which you wouldn’t think was a big deal BUT…. Ken had told us back in April that he would be out for 3 weeks in June on vacation, and not to worry Jen would be around. Fine. Love that he gave us so much notice. Even the day before he went on vacation, we were in the midst of changing our dessert party and rehearsal dinner, and he said just make sure we emailed Jen with everything while he was gone. Fine. Well that was like Tuesday… and Friday morning (we were still working out the whole rehearsal dinner/dessert party thing) we got an email from Jen saying she would be out starting that afternoon until the following Friday. Excuse me?!? You are both on vacation!? And you gave us no notice at all, nor did you tell me who your back up was!? OMG. This was one of my few Bridezilla moments. Anyway… Jen did redeem herself just a couple weeks before the wedding. She is the one who drew the concept picture for the grooms cake – and it was awesome.

Reservations: Anaeli Q A- Anaeli was great really. Very nice, very helpful, on top of our reservations, helped us find hotel rooms for my last minute procrastinators. BUT a lot of things got screwed up with reservations beginning at 7pm on the Thursday night before the wedding – after Anaeli left work, and she is off on Friday and Saturday. I am not sure that she could have helped with the things that happened, and the full blame belongs with Coronado (see below), but I wonder if there wasn’t something more she could have done beforehand to prevent the issues.

Part 2:

Coronado Springs: C The resort is absolutely beautiful and SOME of the staff do try hard and go out of their way for you (too bad the unhelpful ones outnumber the good ones!). That’s about the only good thing I can say. I’ll go into more detail when I do the TR, but in summary, our reservation was messed up, the maid of honors reservation got messed up even though I had talked to Anaeli 3 days in a row, including that morning, to make sure it was right, rooms were not cleaned by a normal hour (ie 5:30 and rooms still not made up!), elevators broken, bell services refusing to drive elderly folks to their room one night (CSR offers golf cart service from the front out to your room since the resort is so big), rooms not ready for check in until after 5pm when the guests had checked in at front desk at 11am. Etc etc.

Disney Floral: A Our coordinator was Elizabeth Motoc. She was terrific – extremely quick at answering emails, great at providing suggestions. When I balked at the price of something, she would suggest a lower cost alternative. I sent her a vague idea of thoughts on the bouquet, and she came back with pics of exactly what I was thinking. The flowers the day of were perfect. Exactly what I had pictured. Same with the décor in the Living Seas – the tables looked great.

Cake (GF Bakery): A+ We loved both our cakes!! Not only were they beautiful, but they tasted fantastic as well. We had many guests comment on how good they thought the cake was.

Epcot food – Dessert Party B+ I was torn on grading this lower… The food was delicious, but some items were not what we had asked for. At this point (you will see in the TR) I was a basket case and when I saw the food wasn’t right I started crying and kept saying that “I just want something to go right”. I know no one else knew that the food wasn’t right, so it wasn’t a big deal in the scheme of things but that is the reason for the B instead of an A. More detail in the TR on the Dessert party issues.

Epcot food – Reception: A The reception food looked amazing. Unfortunately, I ate very little of it. My stomach was a mess that day, so I only managed I think one piece of Tonga toast and a little bacon. How sad when we had worked so hard to build a menu that I loved! Feedback I’ve gotten from guests is that the food was excellent (for brunch).

Disney DJ Charles Miles: A+ you cant go wrong with Charles. I think we got the best DJ ever!!!! Before the wedding, we had talked to Charles a few times, and Brandon and I were both skeptical that our guests would dance much. But dance they did – and I mean ALL our guests! It was amazing. Charles listened to all our recommendations and requests that we had spoken about before the wedding, and did a great job keeping the dance floor filled. I highly highly recommend Charles to any bride. (he was also the DJ at MNSSHP in Tomorrowland – more on that in the TR)

Photographers - David and Vicki Arndt: A+++ I cant say enough good things about David and Vicki. They are awesome photographers and fabulous people. We love them, and we love our photos. We were so very lucky that we got to keep them even after they left Disney Photo (full story on that here). They are a husband and wife team who work so well together – they always know where the other one is and you can see they play off each other with their shots and ideas. They went the extra mile in everything they did. And Brandon and I got more than we bargained for because we now have a terrific new set of friends that we cant wait to see again.

Disney Photo: pending I am going to reserve my grade on this until after we go thru the album process. While I am pleased we got to keep David and Vicki, other things happened that give me a bad opinion of the Disney Photo dept.

Disney Video: Pending I am also going to reserve judgment until after we see our video.

YAY!!! Thanks for the reviews...they are so helpful!! I keep hearing such great things about Beaute Special and I'm so excited! Can't wait to read more :goodvibes

Yayyy Jennifer! I'm soo excited to read your TR! Thank you for giving honest reviews, it really helps us soon-to-be Disbrides out! :goodvibes

I kept waiting in your PJ for this...but now I have found it! YAY!! Your reviews are great, thanks for sharing! I'm sorry you didn't get the proper food for the DP. I'm getting scared with the recent reviews on DPS attitudes...I am forced to use them for most of my events :headache:

Can't wait to read more!!!

Thanks for the reviews, they are so helpful! I'm using Ana too for my hair and it's good to hear she can work wonders, I may need to book a trial on our PS to see if the curls will really hold on me, they usually don't even last an hour!

You can request your planner? Did they give you a hard time about it?

Oh no, that's terrible about CSR. While I wasn't a huge fan of it when we stayed there, we were going to use it for the room block since the rooms are recently redone and they have Queen beds.

I will get started on it tomorrow I hope.

karen i felt the same way when we were deciding in park vs out of park. I was very worried about Disney photo. We were lucky with how things worked out, but I am unimpressed the Disney Photo as a whole.

I was really shocked how well my hair held up in the heat, humidity, and dancing!
CSR - part of the reason we picked it was the same as you - recently renovated, queen beds. And the rooms were very nice for sure! We just had some bad experiences. And I know part of it was because they were swamped with back to back conventions, but hellloooo you are a convention hotel. You should have things down pat!

Thanks for the reviews can't wait to read more!!!
Thanks Ann, hope the reviews help!

Looking forward to reading more.
I will try hard to start the TR tomorrow (hopefully it will be a slow day at work!) ;)

Thank you for taking the time to do this. It's so helpful for those of us in the planning stages. I was going to do a park ceremony like yours, but we have to have David and Vicki Arndt for our photography and have decided to move to SBP for the ceremony. I don't want to go through Disney Photo Svs. to book them. I've heard too many negatives. I talked with Vicki and I can go through her directly if I don't have a park ceremony.

Thank you again for sharing all this information and I'm looking forward to reading more.

YAY!! So glad that you started your TR!! :goodvibes I can't wait to hear everything and offer my two cents. lol - how is married life?

You are welcome! I am glad the reviews help - and that you are using David and Vicki!

Married life is good :thumbsup2 We are starting to get back to working on stuff that ws on hold because of wedding planning. IE working on the house! Next project is redoing the flooring in our finished basement. If that goes well, we will do the bedrooms next. How is married life treating you?
Cant wait to read about all of your trip as well!

And I just have to share - David and Vicki did a slideshow for us of some of our pics - check it out:

The music they put with it makes it even more magical!

OK... without further ado...

TR - Day 1 - Tuesday
We had stayed up until midnight packing and finishing things for the wedding (window clings, welcome folders) so when the alarm went off at 5:30am i was not a happy camper. We did manage to get everything into Brandons honda somehow. I wish i had thought to take a picture of it all packed up, but I wasnt thinking very clearly that early in the morning ;)
You couldnt even see out the rear window. It made me a bit nervous, but it was better than driving 2 seperate cars.

Our drive was a little over 7 hours - and we drove straight to the courthouse in Kissimmee. I couldnt believe there was no line at all!! We got our marriage license and were back in the car in just a few minutes. Again, no pictures. I dont know what I was thinking!!

We headed to Coronado Springs to check in - its about 4pm. All of our guests and bridal party were at coronado springs (except a few that were off property). So I had requested that our guests try to be kept together in the cabanas buildings. We had requested a room with 2 queens for us - so we had an extra bed to spread stuff out on. The only other request I made was for my maid of honor and one bridesmaid to be put in the room next door to us. (keep this in mind for day 2!!).

We checked in at the front desk, got our room in Cabanas 8a and grabbed a bell person to help us unload the car. I dont know why i didnt confirm with the front desk about the whole 2 queen bed thing before we headed to the room! We got up to our room and it was just a king bed. AND clearly there were people in the rooms on either side of us already.
Our bell person, who was really trying hard to be helpful and wanting to make things right, called the front desk for us. While he was doing that, i was on trying to reach anaeli (our reservations coordinator) but I got her voicemail.
So, i speak to the front desk person and explain how not only are we supposed to have 2 queen beds, but our maid of honor is supposed to be in the adjoining room when she checks in on thursday. So the front desk says they have no rooms adjoining that both have 2 queen beds. BUT, the people in the rooms next to us are checking out thursday morning, so she can put my MOH (lisa) in the connecting room (2 queen beds for them) if we stay in this king room. UGH. I'm pretty annoyed because we really didnt ask for much when it came to reservations so I feel like we are off to a bad start. I also asked her to check on other family members who were going to be checking in on thursday - my mom, my dad, brandons mom, other bridesmaids etc. All were slated to be in the same 8a building, so I decided that this would be fine then, on the condition that my MOH absolutely must be in the connecting room.
We continue to unload the car and Aneali calls me back. I explained the situation to her. She said they must have thought they were "upgrading" us to a king for free and that we'd be happy about it - which was a nice thought but annoying too. So while she was on the phone she double checked Lisa's reservation - which did show she would be put next door. GREAT!

By that time we were both sweaty from unloading the car - it was so freaking hot. Holy cow! It was like 93 out! Much warmer than atlanta had been when we left. So Brandon and I unpacked - and boy did we have a lot to sort out! ! Then we quickly showered an changed - so we could meet up with David and Vicki (our photographers) to have a few drinks and dinner.

We met up with David and Vicki at the Rix Lounge in Coronado Springs. Here are 2 pics of us, of course I now realize I have none of David and Vicki!

While the mojitos at Rix Lounge were terrific, the menu left something to be desired. We were all hungry after sitting and drinking a bit, so we headed out with David and Vicki to TGI Friday's (off property).
We had a fabulous time with them - and despite the early start to our day, we hung out until almost midnight!
I think I was asleep before my head even hit the pillow!;)

Ugh, that is so irritating that that happened to you! I am sorry you had such a rough first day! I've read quite a lot of reviews with moderate resorts messing up rooms, kinda weird! DF and I were thinking of staying at the Coronado, since it looks so amazing...but we ended up finding points that made a deluxe cheaper. I hope you did get to enjoy the hotel eventually, it does look really nice!

I love that you went for drinks with your photographers, that is so cute! I really want a mojito now...to bad I have class tonight

The slideshow was great! I loved the music! That's really annoying with the rooms. Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

Congratulations!!!!! Were you by chance walking out to the boardwalk.... At the Boardwalk hotel on Monday morning? I think I walked right by you.... If it was you, you sure looked beautiful and I loved your bouquet.....

:cheer2:

We were indeed at the Boardwalk monday morning - we did our first look in the lobby at 6:45, then pics inside and out until about 7:45 or 8am. If it was later than that, then maybe you saw meg who got married at SBP at noon.
I loved my bouquet too - the starfish really sparkled in the sunlight.

Thank Sara - David and Vicki did a fabulous job with our slide show.

The hotel really is a nice hotel, we just had a few bad experiences. Day 1 isnt the worst of it - wait till i get to day 3 :sad2: I am glad you were able to do the Delux instead. Honestly our original plans were to stay at Boardwalk, but ALL of our bridal party didnt want to spend the money for that, so it was silly for us to be the only ones at Boardwalk. In retrospect, I wish we had stayed at Boardwalk and just figured out a plan for the bridal party.
David and Vicki really are such a blast. They were cracking me up that night, David especially. He kept calling Disney information line to find out times for Wishes fireworks (we were going to watch them from GF) but he got 3 different answers from 3 different people. Then when we drove out to Fridays, we had driven past downtown disney, and the Characters in Flight balloon. David called and was asking so many questions - but we were seriously thinking about doing it that night after we ate. too bad we finished dinner so late!

I'm sorry you had trouble with the rooms but it helps the rest of us to know that it would be better to stay at the BW. Thank you for posting and I don't know how I missed your TR for two days. :confused3

I love your slide show! You have Pixie Dust in your slide show and I love the music and the pictures. You were in so many different countries too. Did you do the Epcot Countries before the ceremony?

I love your TR so far. Keep it coming!:goodvibes

I swear every time I see one of these slideshows on here..it makes me want to get outside vendors to do our photography. I absolutely loved yours. Your colors are gorgeous, your dress is beautiful and I just loved your hair and bouquet.

Glad to hear that married life is good:bride:
