Family: Jen & Ju 30ish, Daisy 10, Molly 8
Tuesday 25th May
Picked up girls after school & drove up to Gatwick, dispatched our luggage in Twilight check-in. Didn't have our seats that I had pre-requested but we still managed to get a 3+1 seated together. Found our B & B nearby and went for a meal in the pub opposite.
Wednesday 26th May
Up early, even though we didn't have to be at Gatwick until 11am. Managed to eat a good old English breakfast, which would keep us going for a few hours! Got to Gatwick in plenty of time, wandered around the shops for a while (it certainly is an improvement on the facilities at Exeter Airport!!). Flight appeared to be leaving on time, we were merrily taxiing for take-off when the stewards who were seated just in front of us realised that their chairs weren't bolted to the floor properly(?). So back we went and they had to get the engineers on to fix the problem, which eventually took 2 hours as other stewards chairs were found to be the same. (I hoped they were more thorough on checking other things ie the engine, wings etc, etc!)
So all in all, we were sat on the plane for 10 hours.
Arrived at Orlando airport, didn't seem to take too long to get through customs and the queue at the Dollar desk was non-existent. First we had to locate the office to get our villa keys, which we did with no problem but we managed to get lost on the 192 looking for Windsor Palms. Well, left or right, East or West, there's not that much difference!!! Eventually we found our villa only to be a bit shocked to be parked up outside a condo, now I have got nothing against condo's and it was beautifully kitted out but we did pay for a villa and a villa is what we wanted........more about that in Part 2.
