Can anyone tell me about this place? What is the cover charge? What was your experience here? Good and bad, all are welcome.

Thanks!

I am the only one you will ever see that does NOT love the place.

But, don't let me sway you.

So, on with the love-fest! ;)

.

Here comes the lovefest - :lmao: We went the end of April on a Wed. evening. It was a lot of fun and the highlight of our trip! I think the cover charge was $10 a person if I remember correctly.

It can be fun depending on the crowd, not really my type of place. It is frequented by Cast Members who usually get drunk.:rolleyes1

I love the place. In my experience, you have to get there somewhat early in order to get a good table...or just be very lucky if one opens up. Sure, like any piano bar you have "regulars" that tend to get a little too rowdy and loud and it can get annoying. But I thought all of the piano players had a great deal of talent. I think it's a great way to wind down a day and just enjoy yourself. If you're a fan of music, it will absolutely blow your mind how these guys can just pick up a song on a whim and play it. And the transitions from one song to another are virtually flawless.

Too much of a lovefest? Maybe, but I make it a point to get to Jelly Rolls at least once each trip now.

I don't get there often enough! This next trip I won't get to go because it's just me and my 7-year-old Godson. But next September, you better believe I'll be there!

When I was there in March, someone requested "Stinky Cat". There was some back & forth with the piano player - and some frantic blackberry surfing looking for lyrics. Finally the piano player said to ask the other guy when he came out, that he'd probably know it. We thought he was giving the brush off. But the other guy actually DID know it and sang it. It was very funny - and we had a great time.

:dance3:  party:  :dancer: :cool1:

Cover is about $10-12, can't remember which. I used to avoid going to Jellyrolls for long simply because of the smoke. But since they've done away with the smoking, it should be much better for those of us who are allergic!
I have friends who absolutely love it there..some go every night!! I like it well enough. But if I don't get there I don't worry too much.
It is a fun spot...lively crowd. I've been there when there have been bachelorette parties...those groups were crazy!!! Very well oiled and rowdy. But for the most part, the groups are just fun loving.
The piano players are great. They put on a great show. They take requests...but remember that the more you give with the request, the faster your request gets played!!!

I'm not sure if there will be a lovefest here or not. ;)

Jellyrolls can be a lot of fun. I agree with the earlier comments that the piano players/singers are really good. They also have a great sense of humor and really interact with the audience. During one of our visits there one of the players sat on top of his bench like a frog, and sang Rainbow Connection in Kermit's voice, while using some kind of metal "stick" to move one of his arms puppet style. It was hilarious, while the music was really good.

I also agree with the comments about the drunk people. For example, once when we were there some drunk girls kept screaming "Devo" over the music - apparently they wanted the guys to play "Whip It" from the 80s - until everyone around them had to scream back for them to shut up, and it only worked after one of the players asked them to be quiet and told them that they weren't getting Devo and to stop ruining everyone else's night. (Just so you know, the way to get your song played is to write it down on a piece of paper and take it up to the pianos, and to put a tip in the jar for them - not to scream relentlessly.)

I can't remember if they went smoke-free at Jellyrolls or not, but the fact that they allowed smoking and you came out of the place reeking like an ashtray is why we haven't been back in years.

The place opens at 7pm, but they don't start playing until 9pm. You do have to get there fairly early to get a table, otherwise you are standing the whole time.

My review: music is great. Crowds are a big question mark and can sometimes break the place for you, if like me you are driven nuts by rude and loud drunk people. It may be better to try during "slow" times at WDW and on weekdays since you may get fewer annoying, totally drunk people then.

My DH and I went there for the first time last March during my B-Day trip. I loved it!! My DH didn't enjoy it as much as I did....not that he didn't have fun, but not as much fun as me. That might have something to do with drink consumption. :confused3 Anyway, the piano players are very talented and quite entertaining. Make sure you eat something before you go! The only kind of food they serve is popcorn.popcorn::

We're going back to WDW in October and my IL's will be joining us. Hopefully we'll be able to get over there! My MIL really wants to go! Hopefully between her and I, we can convince my DH and my FIL to go over there one night.

Yes, they did so recently.

Thanks for asking this OP! :thumbsup2

My DH and I were debating about coming here

We can deal with drunk ppl...we can't deal with a smoke-filled place!

I'm wondering if this place would be worth the $10+ cover...

Does anyone know what time it usually closes for any day of the week?

I guess we won't know until we try it!

If I remember correctly, it was smoke-free when we were there.

Here goes from a former cast member:

1) If you don't want to see the host who helped you get on Haunted Mansion getting drunk, then DO NOT go on Sundays and Tuesdays. When I was there, these were the days the place offered no cover to cast members.

2) That being said, if you DO enjoy rody people, then check it out on those days because they can also be the most fun.

3) I loved Jellyrolls, and it was one of my favorite places to frequent when I was in Orlando, as well as subsequent trips. The guys that play there are great -- especially Tommy, Scotty, and Ray. The cover is a little steep, but really worth it.

4) To reiterate what othes said before --- GO EARLY! It is hard to find a table after 9:00 or so.

Enjoy it, it is really a great time. Just DON'T tell them if there is a special occassion. On my birthday I had to do 'The Tree Dance'.:wizard:

The guy in the glasses is the one that did Rainbow Connection a la Kermit the Frog when i was there:

Do you mean "Smelly Cat?"

Yes, sorry. My Friends knowledge is sadly lacking. I thought it was funny because of the interaction, not because I'm a huge FRIENDS fan.

:lmao:

Oh, and it was the guy in the white shirt in the picture posted by the PP that sang "Smelly Cat".

For the poster who asked how late it is open, as far as I know it's open late like any other bar - 1:00 or 2:00 AM. Or it was the previous time I went. This last trip I was not with a nightowl...she was dozing off by 9:00, and dragged me out by 10:00.

Thank you all so much for the replies. Robo, why do you not like it? Was there one reason, or was it just not your type of thing?

Many replies have said to arrive early. What constitutes "early?" Because usually at home here, if I don't go out by 7:30 or 8:00pm, I'm too lazy to go out anyway! LOL!

I haven't clicked the link for youtube yet, but thanks so much for that!

This is very helpful!

I don't mind rowdy at all, in fact, it'd just cause me to be less inhibited! Looks like a blast to me!
