I searched but could not find the answer to this question: Does Jellyrolls use strobe lighting during the live shows?

Jellyrolls looks so fun - and my adult son would probably love going there during our February trip when we are staying at the Boardwalk. However, he has a seizure disorder so out of caution we try to avoid extreme strobe lights, like at a dance club. He has been to many concerts and is OK with standard concert-type lighting with spotlights that move, flash and change colors. If there is any unexpected fast strobing we cover his eyes. But if there is a lot, and it’s a regular part of the show, we’re probably best avoiding it.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

That's not strobe lighting (plus, per the disABILITIES FAQ), there is no actual strobe lighting at WDW.

???? Nobody said it was strobe lighting. The OP was concerned with possible strobe lights/flashing lights/blinking lights etc... which can trigger a seizure. I showed a video of the "lights", at their flashiest moment. Thats all.

Strobe lighting at a specific speed could cause a seizure in a person with photosensitive epilepsy. The light flashes in that video are too far apart to induce a seizure. Nobody claimed anybody indicated the lights in a video are strobe.

I too have an adult son with epilespy, controlled by medication. The only attractions he stays away from is Space Mountain (MK) and Dinosaur (AK)

Thanks! Luckily the wildest ride my son likes to go on is Star Tours, so we don’t have to restrict his activities much. He loves WDW, there are so many “tame” rides and attractions he can enjoy there. Both he and my husband love live music, so it’s great to know that Jellyrolls is on the “can do“ list! Looking forward to finally trying it! :cool1:

Also check out Disney Springs. they have several venues with live outdoor entertainment at night. It varies depending on season, but you can get a full lineup about 30 days ahead of your trip on this sight...

Really? Please dont pretend to know what can and can not induce a seizure. You have no idea, and neither do most Drs. It varies from person to person. If it were so simple as just avoiding one thing, nobody would be having seizures.

Since you are always recommending people call or Email their questions and comments, if you really know what your talking about, I would love for you to call my sons Dr, at the #1 medical facility in the world for Neurology and Neurosurgery and speak with the #1 Dr in the world to let him know your insight. 14 years working with my son, who had a seizure looking a slow color changing christmas lights, and during a soccer game, and watching a movie, and sitting in a classroom, and, and, and....., and cant find an exact trigger.

I'm not sure what you think I know of don't know, or why. As a person with seizure disorder, my information comes from my own research. General in this case https://www.theraspecs.com/blog/pho...fferent-types-of-light-can-trigger-seizures/; specific timing from the disABILITIES FAQ. Note that there are a number of qualifiers in this article - words like "could", "might", etc.

Anyone whose seizures a triggered by slowly changing colored lights should be able to determine from the video posted above that Jellyroll's should likely be avoided by those whose seizures are triggered by slowly changing colored lights.

Most important, the question and my response adressed, specifically, strobe lights.

If you truly have a seizure disorder, I would suggest seeking professional medical advise and not doing your own research on Google or Disboards. Everyone is different. What might be the case for one is definitely not the case for all and I would never say someone could not have a seizure due to XXXX and I would never quote from Google or Disboards.

I'll tell my neurologist during my previously-scheduled appointment tomorrow that this was suggested. I've been seeing one (of three) for almost 30 years. My seizures are idiopathic - not that this is anyone's concern - but I continue to trust the information provided by the disABILITIES Moderators. The OP asked about strobe lights. Jellyrolls' lights are not strobes.

I'm a little surprised to be told not to use Google when the first article I found supports the existent of color changing lights-induced seizures. Just, the lights in question aren't strobes.

And again, OP asked if the lights in Jellyrolls are strobes. Based on the video provided, they are not.
