I've heard of a suntan lotion that prevents jellyfish stings, SeaSafe. Is there any need for this on the eastern 3/5 cruise? Anyone have a problem with stings?

There used to be a post on everything you wanted to know about jelly fiish or something like that. It talked about SeaSafe, didnt know it was a suntan lotion, and jelly fish stings etc. I remember most people saying they were stung if they got close to sea-weed. We did not see any sea-weed, but did not snorkle where I think you would find it more easily.

We did not purchase any for our May trip & did not have any problems.

I found the thread about sea lice.... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=176596

The main reason you would need this is if you are going to go snokling. The snorkle area has some sea-weed which is where sea lice live. They are very tiny jelly fish that get under your bathing suit and cause a very painful red welt rash. If you go to the sticky post about useful cruise links it wil tell you more.

I recall something about a lotion to help with sea lice, which is usually only a problem at certain times of the year.

Jelly fish, from what I've heard (or not heard) and experienced, are not a major problem. They do exist, as we have seen a couple of small ones while snorkelling off the adult beach, just not a major point of concern).

One is a sea/lice jellyfish lotion and the other has the lotion with a sunscreen added. We take it with us on trips since we snorkel every chance we get. But then we also use it at home since our kids are on a river swim team and some years jellyfish are a REAL problem. It is more expensive then regular sunscreen.
