Jelly Rolls recently?

Has anyone visited Jelly Rolls in the past few months? If so, how big were the crowds? The last couple of times I stopped in were slow, typically 20-30 people a night. When I first started going by there a couple of years ago, the place was standing room only but things appear to have taken a turn.

I was there in February and it was quite slow to begin with but had a reasonable crowd by the time we left (after 11 pm), however nothing like crowds I have seen there in the past. I would guess it just varies from night to night and time of year though rather than a general decline in attendance numbers.

The thing that put me off going on my most recent visit early this month was the temperature inside. It was freezing!

If there is a silver lining to the energy crisis, one of them must be that surely it's time to turn up the a/c a couple of degrees?

The past 2 or 3 times I've stopped in at Jelly Rolls have been slow. I went on weekends during April and July of 2007. It wouldn't surprise me if they eventually shut down. One place that I can't believe is still open is the Atlantic Dance Hall. We have stopped in there several times and have yet to see more than 5 or 10 people in the whole place.

I was in Jellyrolls in Sept and it was slow. But I went last March and literally could barely walk through the place. There was a big contingent of conventioneers. I preferred it on the slow night. It's more of what Jellyrolls is all about to me.

And I agree wholeheartedly about Atlantic Dance. What a waste of space on the Boardwalk! I've walked in and and then straight out many, many times. It's a shame because they have some really good dance music.

I was there in March and the place was packed. We managed to get a table for 4 after about 20 minutes of standing around. So it wasn't TOO bad. My understanding is that a lot of cast members hang out here too.

We have a trip booked during the middle of June staying at the Boardwalk Villas. I'm sure we will stop by Jelly Rolls at least one night so I'll write a follow up and let everyone know how the crowds are this summer.

Last time we went... it was slow... but really hopping later... SRO. I cannot remember what time it ended... but we closed the joint!

We saw it when we were at BWV last summer. Do the bars allow smoking? That is my big reason for not hitting the bar type places for fear of smoke. Thanks

Jellyrolls has 2 piano players at the front of the room up on a stage. They play all requests. These 2 guys play the piano and sing and the whole place ends up singing along. As the night goes on, there is alot more interaction between the audience and the piano players. I would rather go to Jellyrolls than over to Pleasure Island.

As far as smoking goes, I don't remember anyone smoking in there.

Smoking is allowed in Jellyrolls and unless you sit near the open door it stinks in there It gets crowded around 10pm-11pm. CM's get in free so they do hang out there.

When I was there in March it was pretty crowded, we couldn't even find a table! We arrived around 10 pm and closed the joint down. Now, when I was there on Thanksgiving it was DEAD, my family and I were the only people there! I think it really depends on the time of night, the day of the week and the season. It gets plenty of traffic though, so I wouldn't worry about it closing.

Have always wanted to go, but it's my understanding that under-21s are not allowed, so have stayed away. DD (soon-to-be 15) would love the place, but I'd rather not just leave her by herself if DH and I go.
