My parents are takng our DD for 3 nights while we are in Disney but we really only plan on going out one night. Origianlly planned to go somewhere (still deciding) for dinner and then to PI. Now I'm rethinking our night out. I have been hearing a lot about Jelly Rolls lately.
How early does Jelly rolls get going? I was thinking maybe we could do dinner at or near the Boardwalk, hit Jelly Rolls for an hour or so and then go over to PI.
I don't want to be riding buses all night. We are staying in DTD so I feel like I'd be going back and forth all night. How long is it from the Boardwalk to PI?

It depends what night you are going out. From what I understand, Tuesday night is CM night at Jellyrolls and Thursday night is CM night at PI. They generally are the busiest nights at each sight, but also the ones with the most energy. Your plan sounds good though....dinner at the Boardwalk, Jellyrolls, then PI. Going to the BW, the bus sounds fine;however, I would cab it from the Boardwalk back to DTD as it may be quicker than waiting for the bus. I think it's about 7-10 dollars...

It depends on what you want to do. Jellyrolls is more of a sit down, enjoy the music, sing-a-long if you know the words kind of a place. It isn't a dance club or anything although every hour there is a "mandatory" audience participation number.

If you're more interested in "clubbing" just go on to PI and the dance clubs. And if Toxic Audio is performing at the Jazz Club during your visit to PI, you should definitely try to take in one of their sets.

JellyRolls doesn't get hopping until later in the night imo. Even on a slow night it's usually around 10pm when the place jumps. CM nights are good and if there are big conventions it tends to be more crowded but the place hops. We find that if we go we stay there as we do at PI. Maybe you want to spend a night at each.

I think it also depends upon how old you are! Ten years ago I would have done PI and loved it - now Jellyrolls is more my speed. We LOVE JellyRolls. The piano players are so talented and the camaraderie of the audience is amazing. PI is too hectic, IMHO. Have fun no matter what you do.

Does anyone know if Jellyrolls is now non-smoking (because of the new Florida by-law?)?

Deb Wills site said she didn't think they were. It would be nice if it was.

Thanks Eeyore2U
We went to Jellyrolls on our last trip and while we had a great time, we had to leave earlier than we wanted because of the smoke. It was getting hard to breathe at our table. :(

Jelly Rolls is great. I really enjoy dinner at the Flying Fish then a drink at the game lounge upstairs in the BW (sorry don't know the name I'm at the stage now when I know where things are and what to do but I just can't expend the energy to remember names, lol). Then head over to Jelly Rolls. The Law says if the est. does not garner more then 10% of it's earnings from food it is exempt . SOOOO Jelly Rolls is exempt from the Law I don't know what WDW will do I would think this is confusing for folks from out of state who are not privy to the wording of the law who may expect it all to be NS.

My vote is for Jelly Rolls!
What a blast!

Everytime I've gone to PI it's like revisiting college nights all over again...No thanks!

Another vote for Jelly's. Even with the smoke, we still like going there better than most of PI. The only place we really like at PI is the Adventurers' Club and it really can be very funny, but we generally prefer the crowd at Jelly's.

Like deciding which theme park to hit if you have to choose only one, this is a tough question because it depends on what the make-up of the group is.

Generally, I've always found that both Pleasure Island and Jellyrolls don't really get rolling until later in the evening... say, after 10 p.m.

Pleasure Island is the place to be if your group is kind of diverse. You can spend 30 minutes at a comedy club, then go wander around the adventurers club, followed by some country western... it's also easier to say "OK, we're going to go do this, you go do that... we'll meet back up in an hour."

Jellyrolls, however, once it gets going, is pretty much a crowd pleaser. Unless you're super-grouchy, how can you not love a place where they can go from singing Meatloaf to Patsy Cline, all based on the whims of the crowd?

On a sidenote about the smoking thing... I'm kinda confused. If establishments that don't earn more than 10 percent of their money on food are exempt, I would think most of the clubs on Pleasure Island would be exempt. But I seem to recall reading that Pleasure Island has gone non-smoking. Is that just by choice, or am I missing something?

I think either way you go, it's going to be a great time!

Unfortunately, Disney does not own JellyRolls and the owner of the place did not choose to make it a smoke-free workplace. Since they do not serve food, they have that option.

Although the clubs at PI that do not serve food could choose to allow smoking, Disney decided to make all of the indoor venues smoke-free. Smoking is allowed outdoors.

We have a Jelly Rolls here in the ATL and it is a hilarious and enjoyable night out. The girls and I head there whenever we have something to celebrate and Jelly Rolls never disappoints.
I can't wait to check out the one at Boardwalk!

Have a super night out and a wonderful trip.
