Jello question...

I am making a fishtank full of blue jello with candy fish in it for DS's bday party this weekend.

But at what point do I add the fish? I'm pretty sure I can't do it right after pouring in the jello b/c they would sink to the bottom. But if I add them after it's formed, then won't there be lines all in the jello?

Sorry, this is a really trivial question.....but I'm stumped and want to make sure it works out ok!

You have exactly 5.3 seconds between liquid and fully formed to insert the fish. Good luck!

;) J/K. I actually have no idea...but I like your concept! It sounds neat.

What about doing it in stages? Like fill it 1/3 up and let it set. Then add some fish and fill another 1/3. After that sets, add more fish and fill it up. There might be lines that show where you added more, but maybe its not noticeable. ?

Could you maybe wait until it starts to set, add a couple fish. Then wait a minute or so, and add a couple more and so on? That way they will have sunk to different levels as the jello firms up.

Thanks everyone! I have this picture in my head...I'm just not so good with the implementation!!

I'm gonna try the layering idea that vettechick99 had. Wish me luck!! :wizard:

When my son had to do a cell model we did it with jello and candy (it was pretty neat actually).
I just kinda watched it (maybe 1/2 hour) and when it just barely started getting jiggly we put the "cell" components in.

I always do the fast set method so if you do it the other way, then maybe wait an hour or so.

Sounds like a cool idea too BTW, I'll have to keep it in mind for the next family get together.

What kind of fish do you put in? :confused3 I've never heard of this before?!?

ooooo This just gave me an idea for DD's class holloween party.... I can make orange jell-o in a fish bow and put all kinds of stuff in it like plastic bugs, plastice eyeballs and all sorts of nasty things like that.

I bought gummy fish, so we'll see how it goes!

I think I remember that you can't put them in immediately or they will get icky (they swell and don't look like gummy fish anymore)

Did you look for the directions on Google?

That was sooo funny :rotfl2: I now have to clean my screen. Need a laugh today, Thanks.

Now to anwser the question. When the jello gets thicker than egg whites.
