jello - how do they make it?

After buying lots of jello last wk DH informed me that he wont ever eat jello again after reading how it was made. Sooo how IS it made?

I'm not allowed to tell my vegetarian cousin what Jello is... my family's afraid she won't eat anything if I do.

I don't eat Jello anymore since I learned how it was made either. Let's just say it is NOT an appropiate choice for vegetarians!
