Jeff Conaway

RIP!

I've watched all the seasons & I have to say to me, Jeff was the most far gone. Steven Adler was pretty out there too, but he has pulled himself together beautifully. Mike Starr...another tragedy. His demons ran deep too, but I really thought he could do it. Or at least get himself to a point that he wouldn't die from it.

Whatever happened to Shifty - anyone hear anything lately?

Hopefully Jeff's demons are now quiet & he will rest in the peace he sought for so long but couldn't find.

I don't know why, but this hits me very hard. I feel like I was rooting for him to get his life together and recover. It was sad to watch him in that downward spiral (one I think we'll be seeing again as Charlie Sheen plummets)., and sad to see his life end this way.

Agreed. I wish that celebrities (and normal people who struggle with addictions, as well) would really take note of the hard, cold consequences of their addictive actions.

Those that keep getting "let off"..ahemLohanahem...learn nothing than someone else will pick up the pieces. Where are the coping with life after addiction skills being taught?

Tragic and so preventable..

For his sake I am glad they where able to turn off the life support. Seemingly his ex girlfriend claimed she had power of attorney and stopped them doing it yesterday. Considering his condition you have to wonder why.

His family are understood to have decided to turn off his life support machine yesterday.

His ex-girlfriend Vikki Lizzi, who claims she has power of attorney over the 60-year-old, had tried to block the move.

You know when Steven was on CR, I was like, OMG he's alive, for some reason I thought he died a long time ago. I remember when GNR kicked him out, but I thought he died after that.

Mike Starr: you are right, that was a tragedy. he looked so "well" when he appeared on the CR with Janice Dickinson and that group to say they could do it.

This makes me sad. It's such a tragedy when this happens, and it happens all too often.

I am a big fan of Taxi, and Jeff was a huge part of the first seasons of that series.

Jimi Hendrix
Janis Joplin
Jim Morrison
Keith Moon
Kurt Cobain
Layne Staley
Mike Starr

And now Jeff Conaway and so many others. There are only two outcomes with addictions like these: either you get clean or you get dead.

It's very sad.

I'm so glad his demons can't hurt him anymore. RIP Jeff.

Awww...RIP to Jeff.

I was rooting for him on CR. However it just was not looking good. Hopefully he is at peace now.

I can't think of Jeff Conaway without thinking of his scene on Taxi with Jim, when he was trying to "help" Jim pass his written test for his driver's license. "What does a Yellow Light Mean." "Slow Down". Remember that one?

So sad.

That was one of the greatest scenes in sitcom history!
"Slo-o-w-w d-o-w-w-n-n..." :lmao:

I need to watch it now. And I'll send it to my dad. He was a huge Taxi fan. I was too young to watch them new. Nick at Nite used to play them.

Oh yeah! Jeff's timing was perfect. RIP Jeff Conaway.

I think I remember hearing or reading a long time ago that he was gonna be the next big thing after he left Taxi. I don't know if it just didn't happen, or he turned down roles that he thought he was too good for.

I really dread Dr. Drew being on every single news and entertainment program tomorrow.

I have to admit I didn't recognize the name Jeff Conaway, but I certainly do remember him now from Taxi and Grease. I caught him briefly on the rehab show, but didn't recognize him. Very sad indeed. May he RIP.
