Can anyone tell me if they've been on the Jeep Safari Tour in Cozumel? Do you drive a Jeep (standard shift) on your own? We'll be a party of four, so would we have our own Jeep? Where do you go? What's included and what were your likes/dislikes? Any info will be appreciated! :p

My DH and I did this last week. The said all the Jeeps were standard but we had an automatic. They split you up into groups of four, one person drives on the way, someone from the other party drives on the way back (if they want). You stop at the "Pee-Pee Station" (yes that is the name), for a last bathroom stop (also a sounvenier shop). You drive for about 30 minutes, and when you go off-road is is EXTREMLEY bumpy. I would not recommend this for anyone with a bad back, etc. You stop at one of the ruins for about 15 minutes, then off to the beach. They have umbrellas and blankets already spread out (one umbrella per jeep). The water was great! They serve you a Mexican-style lunch and soda. They also take pictures when you first leave and at the beach. When you stop back at the store on the way home you may purchase the pictures ( they were very good, we got both of them.)

This trip made for a great afternoon. Everyone that went (about 25 of us) had a great time.

We did the jeep tour in May. At the time, they were all standard transmission, so since neither hubby or I can drive a stick shift, we teamed up with two other people and were just passengers. You break up into groups of four in the jeeps, which are within walking distance of the ship. Then you drive off as a convoy to the area where you will be off-roading. It is a blast! Be warned...you will get VERY dusty. As DeniseHop mentioned, you stop at the PeePee Station on the way out and back. The ruin stop is a nice little photo opportunity, and the beach is awesome. On the day we were there, the waves were huge...kind of like Typhoon Lagoon on steriods. Our guides kept an eye on us to make sure that no one got swept out to sea. We just wore our swimsuits under our clothes. I felt sorry for the people who hadn't realized that we'd be going to the beach...they hadn't brought swimwear, so they didn't get to enjoy the water. The food was very good...tacos, salsa, etc. plus soda. I HIGHLY recommend this tour.

Do all of the jeeps only seat 4? We were thing of doing something like this, but we have 3 little girls. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Barb & DeniseHop -

Thanks so much for the great reports! It sounds like something we'd like to do. We'll have me, DH, DD and her girlfriend (they're teens). Fast riding/driving and the beach -- what more could they want? Of course, my DD says surfboards would be great, but she's never even been surfing, so I'm not so sure she'd even know what to do - lol! Can't wait till May!!!:p
