Jeebus Hates Tebow

I always have to wonder though, would people be as tolerant of Tebow if he wasn't a Christian... and was doing Muslim prayers in the end zone, or giving thanks to the Goddess as a Wiccan. My guess would be probably not.

We will never know... Hypotheticals are fun though, aren't they? :goodvibes

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Mathew 6:5 KJV

THIS is what I see in Teboow, not a good Christian boy.

To me, this verse is meant for people who ONLY pray and proclaim themselves as Christians in public. We are meant to show others what God has done in our lives, but the holy men being talked about in this verse did terrible things in their regular lives and then acted like they were holy in public. Unless someone has eyes on Tebow at home, I don't think they can say he isn't just as strong in his faith at home.

Funny, we just had this verse as our memory verse in children's church today---Matthew 10:32 "Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven."

I love this quote from Tebow, "I think number one is, what my mom and dad preached to me when I was a little kid: Just because you may have athletic ability and you may be able to play a sport doesn't make you any more special than anybody else," Tebow said. "Doesn't mean God loves you more than anybody else.

"We play a sport. It's a game. At the end of the day, that's all it is, is a game. It doesn't make you any better or any worse than anybody else. So by winning a game, you're no better. By losing a game, you're no worse. I think by keeping that mentality, it really keeps things in perspective for me to treat everybody the same."

I'm just glad that he has been "taken down a peg", it is frustrating to hear people talk non-stop about how divine he is. And I don't even watch football!

Anywho, I am glad they lost.

question...if you have had a daugheter and had a choice of 2 men she could bring home and marry and one was Tebow and the other was Vick? who would you hope she would choose....the one with great values and is a great roll model who has a religious back ground...or Michael Vick the dog killer who was in prison....

Given that choice, I would hope that she's a lesbian.

I remember, at least in his Sr year, it was being made a big deal of in college sports coverage...I don't know about before that, but that was when it came to my attention. And yes, in this case, because the camera's are following it, he should stop and make it less formal because it has become about him rather than his faith. They don't call it praying when they do it on the street, they call it Tebowing. I think he should come out and say something about that, and the jerseys and all the rest. It would give me, at least, a lot more respect for him as a person. Right now, I think he is just an arrogant little twit who thinks he is Christ come again.

I am glad he has people that don't see him that way, and there may be an element of sincerity in his behavior, or at least there may have been at one time. Now? He knows exactly what he is doing, exactly how he has come to be worshiped. He may be setting an example, but it really isn't an example of Christ. If he wants to set an example of Christ, he can spend his off season volunteering for charities, fundraising for charity, donating money to his church or to other charities. Seeing him deliver Meals on Wheels would tell me a lot more about his faith and character than the look at me pose, and would actually set a good example as well as do good in the world. And I am sure that would be picked up by the news too.

You are going to criticize him no matter what he does (or doesn't) do.

This is an example of why he can't win-if he does good things and gets publicity, he's a hypocrite looking for personal glory. If he does it quietly and nobody knows about it, then he's not doing anything for God.

Exactly.

I think Tim probably got caught up in a li'l self promotion when he aligned himself with Focus on the Family doin' that commercial, well, I mean considerin' that Focus on the Family doesn't really represent most Christians' views on women's reproductive rights 'n LGBT equal rights. He does sound like a good kid, just got caught up with the wrong people 'n hopefully he'll learn somethin' from that.

How is this not considered a political AND religious comment??
:lmao: and what if the woman she picked was like Tebow or more like Vick than what? :confused3:dance3:
She's be driven straight to Jerry Sandusky's house for a lesson?

It boggles my mind that people who don't share his beliefs see him as someone bad.

What does that even mean...there are more than Tebow's or Vick's in the world. I don't get your comparison....

It's pretty well established, in this country at least, that folks of Tebow's ilk are not exactly welcoming of lesbians, and therefore, there is little chance that a lesbian is going to be at all like TT. Fortunately.

I don't share his beliefs but that doesn't make him a bad kid to me, he's just misguided due to his alignment with Focus on the Family which is an anti gay group. I hope he can put some distance between himself 'n that group.

no just a comparison of if there was a choice between good and evil thats all....

I am a woman that follows Tebows ilk.....and so does my family....however we have no issues what so ever with someone being gay or marrying and we voted for gay marriage not against it.....so don't paint us all with such a broad brush...you would be surprised how many in our ilk feel the same way I do :thumbsup2

I agree with some of what you say...not all of it but some....I don't think he will ever separate himself because it is who he is...what he feels and what he believes....he seems like a nice person and he does a lot of good for many people.....and I have no doubt that if a gay person walked up to him and needed help he would not turn them away...regardless if he believes that marriage is between a man and a woman.

I myself, am talking about his moral character.....I would much rather my boys look up to a Tim Tebow than a Michael Vick! The rest of it they can sort out themselves....

There's a lot more to Focus on the Family than their stance on gay and lesbian people. Tim Tebow's ad was pro-life and about his mother's story, and had nothing to do with gay and lesbian issues. They also have lots of programs dealing with adoption, single parenting, bullying, etc.

Many Christians are not anti-gay. I believe people are people, no matter their race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. Grace is for everyone who asks for it. The problem is that the "Christians" who yell the loudest and thus, get the most attention, often have very extreme views. They will bend the bible verses to mean what they want. I have been told I will go to hell because I married a black man by someone using scripture. I don't believe that either. There's only one entity who is worthy to judge me, and it's not anyone here on this earth.

Thats why I say I don't think Tim is such a bad guy, who knows his position of gay rights. :confused3 I'm just sorry he chose to align himself with a group that believes gays should be imprisoned or put to death.

And yes, I agree with you, many Christians believe in gay equality 'n work towards that, those are the ones I associate myself* with, maybe Tim will too one day. :goodvibes

*Not to be misconstrued that I claim to be Christian.

Focus on the Family believes that gays should be imprisoned or put to death? I had not heard much about them in years until Tebow did that commercial and then I saw another commercial for them yesterday during the game (something with kids). I'll have to go read their stance, that is horrifying.

Yeah, I'd like to see info on that as well. I know that they do offer guidance on resisting homosexual urges, but I have never seen anything from the organization that says they think gays should be put in prison or killed. They believe in traditional marriage between a man and a woman, and do not support same sex marriage or civil unions. From what I have seen, that is as far as they go.

Yeah, I think if more folks knew exactly what Focus on the Family stood for, they might not want to be associated with that group. Look under Southern Poverty Law Center Intelligence Report, Spring 2005, Issue Number 117.
