Jeebus Hates Tebow

Or Jimmy Fallons song about God telling Tebow he was on his own tonight was true....LOL

I'm just glad that he has been "taken down a peg", it is frustrating to hear people talk non-stop about how divine he is. And I don't even watch football!

Anywho, I am glad they lost.

NE fan here:

For me it's not Tebow I want to be taken down a peg- it's the fans who are acting like he is the second coming, like he has Jesus on speed dial and he actually answers.

If you asked Tim, he would tell you that there is no difference to his relationship with God this morning than there was yesterday morning. It's only people that do not understand anything about Jesus that have applied His favor to who wins football games.

I was glad they lost too. My DH kept making the joke that it must be only Tebow on the Denver team and he was going to take on the Patriots by himself with all the hype. Not a NE fan but glad they're moving on to next week. Brady did an awesome job :thumbsup2.

Exactly! :thumbsup2

I can't say that I am glad they lost...but I am hoping that it tones down the incredible belief, by some, that Jesus is spending all his weekends listening and answering Tim's prayers. They really do believe it. There are people without food in the world...good people, there are good people that are being oppressed and tortured and killed by heartless others, there are lives destroyed by natural disasters....good people! Yet, so many honestly believe that all that attention is diverted for a Football game and one person that uses it as his identifying "thing". Get a grip...even if Jesus was working the games...he would favor the Patriots. Oh, wait...he did. Praise the Lord. :rotfl:

But I think that was unfair to him. Tebow didn't create this media circus. half the time the dude didn't even want to talk about it.

As previous posters said, he didn't do any thing new or different. He's always prayed before a game, he's always given credit to God when he had success. He's been a devout Christian since I believe I heard it was 12 years old.

I guess what kinda makes me sad is that here is a guy who is simply religious and he gets mocked and ridicule.

Yet, a football player who cheats on his wife, has baby mama drama with a few different women and or gets caught using steriods. Well heck, that's ok, we expect that from our atheletes.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, Tebow may not have been entirely responsible for creating his "media circus" (although even this has debatable points), but he sure has enjoyed it. And as a man of faith, the media circus and attention to his religious beliefs is exactly what he would and should want...spreading the message that he supports. :confused3

Of course, as parents in this household, we're the ones who attempt to steer our kid away from idolizing ANY sports figure. We try to teach that sports abilities do not make a hero. We steer towards real people. But, that's just us.

So true.

Honestly, I see a lot of assuming going on where Tiim Tebow is concerned. I see people assuming things about him, making rash judgements just as I see people assume things about other people who wear their faith for the world to see in one manner or another. As a society, we aren't too comfortable with people who are quite comfortable practicing their faith.

In his press conference following the game, he mentioned that football gives him a platform to do things he would otherwise never be able to do. To me that is what makes him the hero. He could spend his time at bars, driving drunk, getting a couple of girls pregnant since his football would give him the platform to do that. But he uses that platform for something better. I too never let my kids think a sports star was a hero for their ability but rather what they did off the field was what spoke about their hero status or lack thereof.

And really all atheletes, the good guys and the not so savory ones get to do that. Tebow is no different except it appears once again to prove that human nature is set up with some people, to want and to relish for someone to fall off the pedastal they (as in the hater) so want them to fall off of. And maybe he will since he is human. I doubt it and I hope not but it may very well happen.

I have never heard Tebow say he is praying to win. In my mind I assume he's praying to do a good job, to have a safe game, for everyone else to be safe during the game.

Don't we all do that? Do you any of you who are certain Tebow is a shallow guy praying for Jesus to be a Bronco fan ever pray for your child to have a good day at school after they had a bad day? I do. Do you ever pray when you open up your email "Please God give me that blasted PIN from Disney Desinations"! I admit, I did that a time or two. Not proud but I admit I did it.

I can't sit here and say the things I pray for all always about world peace. I pray for that plenty but in the end, we are human and set up to worry and ask for the things that affect us most. So unless any of us know for sure Tebow only bows down before a game to only ask for a victory for himself, and unless any of us can also promise we have never in our lives prayed for something less than a natural disaster or dying children, than really and truly what is the issue with Tim Tebow's praying habits?

To me the bigger picture is that he sets the example that its okay to get on your knees and pray, that no matter how in the spotlight you are, how famous, how tough, there's something bigger out there than you on your own. If one person in the world maybe sees that as an example to follow, well it may sound corny but isn't that worth more than the annoyance many feel over his faith and his unashamed profession of it?

I have been seeing players pray before games since I was a little kid. Tebow is for sure the most famous one these days, but he hardly invented the idea.

Then I'm afraid to even imagine what he must think of PSU.

Ain't it the truth. Jeebus probably spends more time hating that whole mess than Tim Tebow.

I think the whole Tim Tebow story is very telling of the direction this world is going. When a person is made fun of or joked about because they pray that is so sad!

It's not really anything new though.

It is sad, but it's the way of the world.

It's exactly what Christians were told would happen to them. We're lucky in America, people just make fun or joke-there are people in other countries that have it a LOT worse.

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Mathew 6:5 KJV

THIS is what I see in Teboow, not a good Christian boy.

It is nothing new. People have been stoned to death and tortured for their faith. The jokes Tim Tebow faces are nothing compared to what he'd take for his faith.

:thumbsup2 Amen, amen, amen. And as the son of missionaries, Tebow knows exactly what happens to people who have faith in other countries. I have no doubt he feels quite lucky that American makes jokes, mocks or makes silly/cute videos about his faith.

I seriously doubt a young man as mature in his faith as Tim Tebow is prays for a "win."

there is also Matt 28:19, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations..."

There is praying for show, and praying because it's what you do all the time. If Tebow turns out to be a hypocrite like those Jesus spoke of in the verse you quoted, then it will fit-but so far I haven't seen that. From all evidence he lives what he believes, and I'm sure people are working REALLY hard to find evidence that he isn't living it.
