Ok I see that Star Tours is down...
But I thought I read that the Jedi Training Academy was still open??!!

Is it?

If so what is the best way to get two little boys into this?

They take the first 15 kids (ages 4-12) that sign up for the show. I do not remember how many shows they do, I think like 5? a day. We went in November so we did not have a problem getting DD in the show. I have read that if you go at a busy time to be there for the first show.

We just did it with our twins. We were at rope drop and walked quickly right over to the Jedi training academy stage (next to Star Tours). I had been told - even just that morning by a CM - that the line up is by Sounds Dangerous, but it's really just adjacent to Star Tours. There was an obvious roped-off line with umbrellas for shade and we were #s 2 and 3 in line. The line formed behind us pretty quickly and I'd say there were 15 kids in the first 20 minutes. DH went for TSM fastpasses at rope drop and then joined us in line. The CMs talked with us and were fun while we waited. Around 9:30 or so, they started taking names of the first 15 kids for the first show - 9:55. The adults got out of line and the kids waited for their robes and instructions. It was a highlight of our trip and the Photopass pictures from it were fantastic (see the photographer - he'll give you details on how to get the pictures added to your card).

I will say that at the 9:55 show, there were already families waiting for the 10:50 one and this was a "slow" time of year.

Light sabers and brown robes are provided.

It really is a great blast for the kids, and adults! Our son loved it! So worth heading straight there and staying in line for the first show.

Honestly, with the amount of people lining up for show 2 and 3, I wouldn't do it any other way - go straight there at rope drop for the first show.

Ohh, after your son has his "card" to show he was one of the first 15 kids, leave him in line and get a position in front of the stage to take your photos/video. It filled up quickly with parents!

We did this as well with the same strategy on 10/3. We were the first one in line. Only wish they did a show at 9:30 instead of 9:55 as the wait is a bit long for the kids.

What ages are appropriate for Jedi training? I think our youngest 2 1/2 would be too small but he would be kickin and crying like a Wookie without breakfast if he saw only his siblings being able to do it!

Newbie here...What is Jedi Training? Does it cost extra? Is there a video I can show my son to see if he would be interested (he loves Star Wars but doesn't care much for "performing" in front of people)?

I wish we had done this with our girls when we were there in September but I was worried the line ups would be too long, but I really think most people have no idea about it! Next time for sure we will try it.

We did it a few weeks ago. We were in line by 9:15am and made it into the 11:50 show. If it's something that is important for you to do, make sure your there at rope drop and head straight there.

We all headed straight there and dh & son waited in line while we went and got Fastpasses for TSM.


The Jedi training camp was so awesome. My son loved it, and I wish we could have convinced my other son to do it do, but he didn't want to get on stage. I think after seeing his brother did it, he regretted not doing it

Just confirming how it works -- Does that mean your son basically stayed in line, for over 2 hours?

My 6 year-old would love to do it, but we are doing DHS during EMH morning, and I'm going to discourage it, if it means 2-3 hours in line.
I thought I read somewhere, that they will make a list at some point.

We just did this last week, and yes, someone from your party has to stay in line.

We did it on an EMH day, got in line about 8:30 and there were already about 15 families in front of us - although it was hard to tell, because many families left one person in line while the rest of the group went off to do rides. The CM do tell you that this is ok, as long as the kids are back in line in time to sign up.

The first show was at 9:50, at 9:30 the CM counted out the first 15 kids, asked them a few questions and put them on the list. We did not make the first show, but were first for the second show. After the first group is selected, the CM lets you know what time they will be signing up kids for the next show. We just all stayed in line so the kids could watch the first show. I grabbed breakfast from Starring Rolls, and brought paper/pen for the kids, so they were pretty content just waiting. While I waited in line, DH grabbed TSM fastpasses.

If you are not staying at a Disney resort, you may not want to try to do this on an EMH day, you definitely won't be in the first 2 shows.

I also recommend looking this up on youtube first. Many people didn't know what it was, they just saw a line and got in it. At least 2 families right in front of my group backed out after their kids actually watched the first show because the kids were too scared! What a waste of over an hour!

My girls loved it, and I would definitely recommend trying it if you can get there early!

Just checking - I can be in line (without a child), but my son MUST be there when they have the sign up.

So for the 9:50 am show, my son just has to return to me (from the bathroom or rides) by 9:30 am?

After the sign up, can he leave again (bathroom or photo op).

I honestly wouldn't go anywhere except for the bathroom. You never know when a line is longer than it looks or a ride will stop. If you're not there when they do sign-up, you're absolutely out of luck and they do it AROUND 9:30. Could be a few minutes earlier.

ds & dh were in line for 2 hours. I did take ds to the Star Wars store to pick out some stuff to buy, and to the bathroom but that's it. I didn't want to risk coming back late and him missing sign up. He was was in the 11:50 show.

Once they are actually signed up they go to a roped off waiting area. There is not really much time to do anything after they have been signed up.

Honestly it was totally worth the wait. If you can swing the line wait I highly reccomend it. My son loved it!

My son just did this on his birthday and it was the highlight for sure. I read every Jedi Training Thread on here that I could find before our trip! I knew our best shot was to arrive early and go straight to Jedi Training for the first show.

We got to HS by 8:10 for the 9:00 park opening, and we were 2nd in line at the turnstile. We were at the very front of the rope for rope drop, and we quickly walked straight to Jedi Training Academy while hundreds of other went to the craziness that is Toy Story Mania! We were first in line and I was shocked to have pulled it off, lol. We met another very nice family to chat with while we waited for the show, so the wait seemed to go quickly and it was sooooo worth it!

Our original plan for HS was an EMH morning, so I changed our plans. If your son really wants to do it, I would try to go on a different day and avoid the EMH.
