Hi, just wanted to thank those people on DIS that provided all the great tips for the JTA. You rock :thumbsup2 Sorry I can't remember the individuals who posted but just wanted to say thank you.

Today we went to the 1130 show, DS4 was wearing his Lego Star Wars t-shirt and had a sign A4 size that said "The Force Says Pick Me". He was the only kid with a sign and everyone was looking at him including the Jedi Master.

He was picked FIRST!!!:goodvibes

I had already prepped him for the disappointment of maybe not getting picked, but thankful that didn't happen.

He was still talking about it at bedtime tonight and made me tell him the "story" of what he did again and again.

I will post some pics soon and video. Unfortunately I wasn't well prepared and only took my little camera and don't have the cable I need to upload to the PC (its home in Australia..LOL).

Thank you all.

Cheers
Angela

Fantastic news, Angela !

Was there any attempt made at bag inspection to have your sign taken away ?

That's on my "must-do" list for this week.

Glad to hear your son was chosen!
Isn't it such a relief knowing you won't have to sit thru every show for the rest of the day trying to get in?

My sons did not wear their Star Wars shirts when they were chosen but we did make a sign while sittting there waiting for JTA to start.

Yay! Hopefully my boys will be chosen by the jedi Master in 20 days when we're there!

We went to HS last week and were disapointed that the shows kept getting cancelled due to rain so on our last day we went to the first show and our DS did not get picked so we hung around the front of the waiting area for the next show and talked to one of the CMs for a while. He todl us to make sure that the guy on stage saw our kids light sabres and stuff like that and are pretty sure he put in a good word for us because both our son and another couples daughter both got picked out of the crowd.

That is so great! I am so concerned about how my son will be if he isn't picked when we return to DL. That was the highlight of his trip and it is all he still talks about months later. I try to tell him all the time that you cannot get picked every time. I really think star wars shirts help you get picked!

Here is my little one and the shirt I made him!

We were at the Disney World version of this for a whole day attending every single show and my son was not picked. It was during a Star Wars weekend, but I don't really think that this excused the fact that they chose at least 2 adults per session over the kids! No joke, people on the WDW boards accused me of lying, but they chose adults! One was a woman who would have been 40 if she was a day! The cast member at Star Tours thought it was wrong too. I was standing next to him during the last show and he said he thought it was wrong *** the place is for kids. My son had been well prepared to not get chosen, but he was in tears by the end of the day.
We went to Disneyland after that, and the first show we attended we sat down front and waited for it and chatted to the cast member there and my son told him all about the Disney World experience. He was picked third when the Jedi Master started choosing, much to my relief.
The Disneyland version is much cooler than Disney World anyway. I love the way Vadar comes up out of the stage. In Disney World a door opens, some smoke comes out and he steps through.
BTW, we are also from Australia!

I should've checked here. Our two kids (7yr old girl and 5 yr old boy) obsessed with star wars, were passed over for three straight shows. We stayed for two consecutive, then for the selection process for the third. They were both balling after that third time! I was surprised the cast members didn't see us hanging out there that long. (I'm 6'7" you can't miss me). That ate up a good chunk of our day, and they were almost inconsolable for a while there. We don't own any star wars shirts, but maybe next trip.

Will they pick siblings for the same show? I'm wondering if I make signs for both my 4 and 5 yr olds will they pick both?

We were there in April and used the advice that I had read on these boards by making a sign. My Star Wars obsessed daughter was one of the first picked! " The girl with the sign" is easier to say than "the girl in the blue- grey t shirt"!

She loved it and it was a highlight for her, we are also from Australia so we don't get those opportunities very often!

So make a sign, fold it up and keep it in your bag! It really works

My son got picked for the WDW version last summer and it was the highlight of the trip for him.

We leave in 11 days and he has already laid out his Jedi Academy shirt that we bought last year to wear at Disneyland. I need to make a sign for him.

My 5 year old daughter may want to give it a shot this year. Last summer, she did not want to try any of the audience participation shows. I think that going to Kindergarten has made her a bit more adventurous and she says she wants to fight Darth Vader. I have my doubt though!

Yes, I think so too.

We were at WDW in August for my DD 9th birthday. She's pretty cute and outgoing and is used to getting picked for various shows. We warned her that she wasn't going to be picked for shows anymore because the CMs like to pick younger kids and at 9 she was now a "big kid". Well ... she really wanted to do the Jedi Training so we were there 30 minutes before the show and got a spot right up front on the line. It was brutally hot but she waited patiently. Just as the show started I felt a push behind me and someone shoved their absolutely adorable 6 year old boy in full Padewan outfit past me and next to my DD. Who do you think got picked?

This is key. What ever will allow the Jedi Master to pick your kid out of the crowd and easily describe them. If they are the only one with a sign, then that is it. If they are the only one with green hair then that is it. In my opinion, the star wars shirts are not sufficient as every kid in the crowd had one on. Thank goodnesss we took the advice of the boards and made signs. My son was a shoo in. He was embarrassed to use the sign too, because he was the only one, but I held it above his head and he got picked right away. Not many kids dressed as Padawans, but the few that were did get chosen.

It also was the highlight of my son's trip and I loved the fact that they had a photopass photographer there, as we were already planning on buying the disc and it was a great bonus.

DS did the JTA this last January having done it two years ago as well. We use butcher paper as it rolls up and travels easily. At both shows that we went to we were the only people that had a sign. After DS was picked, the first child both times, we handed our sign to another family standing next to us and they were picked as well. The signs work and I agree everyone has Jedi garb on and it is hard for children to stand out.

Nanseev, our two boys were both picked in April- we dressed them in matching bright red tshirts (the Jedi Master calls kids out by what they're wearing "you in the red" etc) and made sure we got there early to be sitting in the front row.

The clincher though I think was our sign - we used a manila folder which fitted in our backpack. It said "Kiwi Jedis - all the way from The Outer Rim!".

The Jedi Master took one look at it and said "Really??" and picked both of them - of course both boys and their parents were going nuts, screaming and jumping up and down at the time which may have helped..:rotfl2:

Actually it was pretty funny seeing all the parents going nuts - the JM picked one child with the words, " You - the youngling with the very excited parental unit.." :lmao:

It's a lot of fun to watch - even if you are not a SW fan - Good luck!

wow great tips. Hey all you aussies, be sure to join us on the aussie thread, love to get your tips and travel ideas.

Another vote for using signs! :goodvibes

Without signs we're 0 for 2. :upsidedow

With signs we're 3 for 3. :thumbsup2

At WDW (DHS) last August they only chose 13 Jedis. We were the only Guests holding up signs, and both DS6 and DD5 were chosen.

"The Force Is Strong In This One!"

"Padawan Princess"

:earsboy:
