It is my understanding that there are no advance reservations/FP for this, but that you have to get there early with your child to sign up. Is this correct? TIA

that is correct. On a normal day all spots are booked by 11am. On a crowded day, by 10am with park opening at 9am.

When I went in 2016, it was located at the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost (located between Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! and the 50's Prime Time Cafe). I think it's in the same spot (but please feel free to correct me).
