Just learned about this and really want to get my daughter signed up for it! My understanding is that you have to sign up in the park. We will be going in December, so HS won't be opening until 9am when we are there. What time would we need to be there to insure we are able to get a spot for her? Please tell me it's not a stampede situation to the sign up area, as I can't run.. :/

The child(ren) whom you are signing must be with you to sign.

1. 8:30-ish is a rule-of-thumb.
2. There will be a definite "group" headed there.
But, it is far from the mob that heads for Toy Story Land.

There will have already been many signed-up who had 8:00AM reservations at Hollywood and Vine breakfasts.

Usually, 30 mins to an hour would be safe. We've arrived at rope drop a few times and still made it in time. It all depends on how crowded the park is in the morning. There's a line to the left of the entrance that starts to form for it. They'll assign you a time to return once you are registered.

So wait, they are registering you at the park entrance? I thought you had to register inside the park, at the Indiana Jones Adventurers Outpost, or am I misunderstanding?

When we did it in early June we got there 45 minutes before the park opened and we actually at the front of the line. There was a CM with telling people in a loud voice not to run to Indiana Jones to sign up. There were people moving at a nice pace but only one village idiot who picked his 2 children (one under each arm) and ran. All is running did was get him about 10-15 people ahead of us. And Karma is ab****. They gave his kids a 16:30 time to show back up and he was annoyed. Maria and I walked up figuring we would get a later time and they gave us 09:30 (the 1st show). We were happy because I know the afternoon shows can get scrubbed in the summer due to rain.

1. Nope.
2. Correct.

Although things can change (and have changed) many times, and at any time.

The line starts before rope drop. They lead you to the sign-in location, which, the last time we did it was by the Indiana Jones area. Several times before, the sign-in location was somewhere else.

LOL.. good to know. I don't want to stress about it, because our trip won't be ruined if we don't get her in, but I know she'd love it.

Oh its a must. Maria got to face Darth Vader and when the voice said "the force is strong with this one" she actually took 2 steps back. All of the kids had this intense look on their faces most were really into it.

Interesting....we have always been able to pick a time from whatever was available. Has that changed?
You are supposed to be able to pick a time. The CM's observed him running and almost tripped over a kid in a wheelchair that they let in a couple of minutes early and I assume they heard him yelling at CM's ahead of him to get out of his way. They didn't give his a choice. I observed (while waiting for the 09:30 show) that everyone who walked in when we did got an appointment easily.

Got it...that's pretty funny! Karma....

I thought you got to pick what show you did (out of the shows still available when you're signing up)?

We already have our FPs booked for the morning, so there's times that won't suit us.

Edit; Ah, should have read on...nevermind.

lol Thank you :) I really appreciate all the info. I will just have to send DH ahead of me. :)

Just FYI, you or DH have to have your child with you to sign up (just wasn't clear based on this if you thought DH could sign up alone).

It was definitely a must do for our boys when they were little...they loved it!

We did this today. Got to studios 6:30 for 7 am EMH. Was at the outpost at 6:51. All slots were open. We took the 9:00 slot. I noticed around 9:45 that the sign was still out that space was still available.

There wasn't a stampede when we went in Feb. but a lot of people made their way to sign up. We were pretty far back in line but still had lots of times to choose from. Just make sure you are there first thing when the gates open and you'll be fine.

Thanks for this, I was wondering if I needed to show up super early or not. How are the crowds doing this early now?
