After reading up on this I am confused. Some post say arrive early and sign your kids up w/ a CM near Sounds Dangerous attraction. Sounds very simple. Other posts give tips on how to have your child selected saying wear bright clothes, make a sign, jump up and down, etc. This sounds like they put the kids in a big room to be selected. Any insight? Also, where is the sounds dangerous attraction? Near American Idol?

It's now the arrive-early-and-sign up procedure. First-come, first-assigned.

All of the bright-clothes-etc. stuff you have read is sadly out of date. They haven't done the random selection method for at least two years now.

Yes, the now-defunct Sounds Dangerous attraction building is beyond American Idol (between it and Star Tours).

You're seeing old posts. They used to choose the kids from the audience and they don't anymore. It's first come, first served signups now. Wearing bright clothes isn't necessary.

Also, so you know, DL still does the select from the audience way. At WDW, now you sign up ahead of time.

Always check the dates of posts.
It can determine their "freshness." ;)

How to sign up for Jedi Training:

NOTE: As of recently, DHS has been actually opening to guests (unannounced) at about 8:30-8:45AM (or so) on days when the published opening time is 9AM.
I'd plan on arriving at DHS -at least- by 8:15 so as to be in a better position to enter the park when the gates open to sign up for Jedi Training and to grab TSM FP's.

On AM EMH days, I'd be there by 7:45 or earlier (if you are a WDW Resort guest.)

Arrive well before park opening time.
When you get inside, take the child with you to the sign-up area.**

You'll get a time for the child to return to the Jedi stage and participate.

**Sign-ups will be either just past Hollywood & Vine Restaurant, or at the Sounds Dangerous entrance (even inside the Sounds Dangerous building,) or at the Jedi Stage.
Look for the sign-up area, in the order of the above, until you find it.

Wow, love the map. Thanks! I did check the dates of the posts and they were as recent as last month. Maybe these people were selected during the show as volunteers, who knows! Fingers crossed and we will get up extra early :)

My guess is SWW is the reason for this.

When you sign up, do they assign for the whole day? only because how does/will that affect touring plans?

Yes they do, and from what I have read, all of the shows for the day usually get filled up within the first hour the park is open.

One more thing: your child(ren) who is/are doing the show MUST be with you when you sign up.

A common "rope drop" pattern for a group with at least two adults is for one adult to go to Toy Story Mania (with all the park tickets) to get Fast Passes, while the other adult and the kids go to Jedi signup (you don't need the park tickets for this). You might want to consult by cell phone to make sure the assigned Jedi show doesn't conflict with the TSM FP return window.

That sounds like a good plan. :thumbsup2

Was just thinking, is there an app that shows the FP return times?

So, now the question is do we ride ST standby after signing up since it would be. Parent swap anyways then head to TSM with FP and start day on that side? VOTLM, PHD, characters before JTA? Are we able to select the JTA times? Or are they random?

Great, now everybody knows! :scared1:

We did this last time we went. DW pushed two girls in double stroller over to TSM for fast passes and me and my son leisurely strolled over to Jedi Training. Needless to say I got an earful about the madness at TSM fast passes area. :rolleyes1

Ha! I know right. That's why I will send DH with older 2 to JTA. Last thing I want to hear 1st thing is TSM madness. :lmao:

Disney Mobile Magic app shows the Fast Pass return times

When you sign up for Jedi, they will assign you to the next available show. I have read reports from some who requested a later show and were accommodated (especially if there was a potential conflict with an ADR).

The first Jedi show has usually been at 9:20, so you wouldn't have time to ride Star Tours first if you get assigned to the first show. But otherwise, doing Star Tours next after signing up for Jedi seems like a good idea (unless you want to do Rock n Roller Coaster, which will build up longer lines than Star Tours will).

When I asked on the lines app, 90% of people had been able to choose the show they wanted....seems it might depend on the CM or maybe how busy the park is.

Is this true all year or only in the busy months? We will be there the week after Thanksgiving and was planning on hopping there around 11:00. Would we be out of luck for Jedi Training?

When we were there in March we got in shortly after the park opened (maybe about 15-20 minutes after rope drop).

We went straight to the sign up area and stood in line, ended up with our DD being in the 2:30pm show I believe. They update you as you wait, saying "now we're accepting Jedis for the 12pm show, etc.)

If you check again you will probably find out those posts were from Disneyland. WDW does not choose from the audience at all anymore, not even during Star Wars Weekends.

Should my son bring his own light saber or do they provide them for the show?

They provide a light saber and a robe. The kids give them back at the end of the show.

There is a make your own light saber inside the store by Star Tours, but I am pretty sure you have to use their light sabers during the show.
