When you sign up for Jedi Training Academy, are you allowed to pick your show time? (Assuming of course that show time has not yet been filled.)

Also, how far in advance of your showtime do you need to be there? For instance, if my child is signed up for the 2:10pm show, when do we need to arrive at the stage?

My daughter has done JTA several times. The last time she did it was last November so it is possible things have changed. We were able to choose the show time we wanted. They ask you to arrive back 30 min before the show.

We got to AK at 8:10 for 9am opening and went straight to sign up, where there were maybe 100 families in front of us. We were able to pick a show time, but the earliest they had available by the time we got there was like 11am.

That didn't work for us, but the CM was good in helping us pick - I said I wanted to it late afternoon, when it is cooler and he asked if we had a Star Tours FP. We did, and he suggested a time right before that, at about 5:30, that worked really well.

One hundred families sounds like a lot. How long did you wait in line to sign up?

I should have put that in there! Not long, relatively, maybe 15 minutes. They have several CMs running sign-up stations (maybe four?) and most families had 1 kid they were signing up. (Maybe I should have said 100 kids were in front of us.)

Ok, that doesn't sound too bad then!

Is the sign up still by Indian Jones? Thank uou

Bumping this up to ask - do they let you in before park open to line up? Or are all guests just wanting outside of the park gates and making a mad dash to the sign up by Indy?

They let everyone in as part of normal rope drop. I actually thought the rush to JtA signup was on par with or worse than the rush to FoP.

Interesting. Your experience is different than in the tips article above. Shouldn't be surprised that the answer is "it depends." If there is a mad dash, that's actually in our favor because my DH is one motivated dad who can walk quickly and our DS would happily keep up. ;) So, I guess we're good either way.

In June 2017 the crowd was released into HS around 8:40/8:45? The internal ropes were up, but we were able to go to Indiana Jones to sign up for JTA before 9. We ended up waiting for the official rope drop closer to Hyperion Theater after we signed up. We were the 5th family in line for sign ups that morning.

Do they happen to still give out good anytime Fastpasses for a ride at HS when you sign up? I'd read several examples of families receiving these for waiting in line for Jedi Training. Seems like it's not an official thing but sometimes people get lucky since you are missing the opportunity to rope drop a ride.
