Hello. We are 8 days away from our first WDW adventure. I'm mapping out our schedule on paper now and getting SO excited!

We are in Hollywood Studios for our last day. Our flight leaves at 840 pm. I figured we would need to be back to the hotel no later than 5 to catch the MDE to the airport in time for our flight.

My question...is there a feasible way for me to sign my daughter up for Jedi training, check out of the resort and make it to our plane on time?

Is it best to just prep for checkout and leave the resort early? And head to HS leaving our bags at the resort?

Any tips are appreciated. Thanks!

We were just at HS on 12/18 with an opening time of 9am. We got there by 8:25ish and they probably started letting people in around 8:45? We headed straight to Jedi sign ups and we were probably around 25th in line to sign up. We were done a little after 9 with sign up and had our pick of times from 9:40 on. As we were walking to TSMM, we were shocked at the line to sign up behind us. Crazy long! Get there early!

We picked the 4:40 show, had to be back by 4:10 and the show lasted until 5ish.

Plan for your MDE pickup to be 4 hours beforehand. We had to be back for MDE by 1 on our departure day for a 5:05 pm flight. Given your flight is 8:40 I would guess your pickup time being 4:30. I would suggest picking the Jedi training time around 1 or 2. This would give you enough time to go back to the resort after sign ups to get your luggage stowed and get back and enjoy the park a bit before your daughters training. The other option is stowing your luggage/checking out early in the morning before you leave and just staying at the park and getting back to resort by MDE. Less running around your last day and what we did our last day. Either way you’ll need to be out of your room by 11 on checkout day so stowing your luggage needs to happen at some point.

The most important thing is get to HS early for sign ups or risk being in line forever! Your child has to be with you for sign ups. Have a great trip!

If there are at least 2 Adults in your group, send 1 Adult + the Jedi child to DHS early so they are there at least 45 minutes before the park opens.

The rest of the group can pack up the room and leave luggage with the RAC airport transport service or with the Bell Desk.

Have the Jedi group select a time that fits your late morning schedule.

Thanks. This is what I was thinking of doing. I wasn't sure if the child needed to come along with or not.

Thanks! I think we may pack up and stow before leaving for HS, so we can just have the time at the park that day without the back and forth. Hopefully we can get there early enough for a decent spot. Thanks for your help!

A word of warning: Magical Express now picks up four hours before your flight. So if you’re back by 5, you’ve probably missed your bus. Adjust accordingly!

Yes. That's what hook mentioned so it's been duly noted. Mentally....I'm preparing to be back by 3.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I didn't want to start a new one :)

Is the sign up right outside the Indiana Jones area? I'm sending DD9 and her grandparents to do the sign up while we ride RnR and TOT.

And how soon before their show time do they need to be there?

Yes, it’s near Indy at the Outpost. They can’t miss it because they’ll follow the crowd heading there.

Your child will need to check-in about 30 minutes before his session to receive the directions and the Padawan robe.

Okay thanks!

Edit to add: And if we have Memory Maker, will there be photographers there and do we need to let them know our daughter is in the show?

Though I can't find it, I'm almost certain that I read yesterday (Jan 2) that DME is back to picking people up three hours before their departure. Obviously, you can ask when you check in.

We were there the week before Christmas and got to the park around 8:45am for a 9am opening. Parents were sprinting, dragging their children and knocking into others just to get into the Jedi training line quickly. We walked and were in a decent sized line and by the time we got to the front, we still had the option to do the training that was about to happen in 10min. We were waiting on my wife so we picked a time an hour out but had the option to pick from many times throughout the morning and afternoon. Just get there at park opening and you will be good, no need to stress, run or even walk quickly.

Good to know because the Grandparents won't be doing any running or dragging of any type LOL

You’ve gotten lots of great advice already, but I wanted to add one tip - when you arrive early before the show they have the kids sit on circles under an awning as placeholders. There are two lines of these circles. The line in which the kids backs are to the “wall” (facing to where the parents stand) fight the 7th Sister. The kids in the line of circles with their backs to the walkway/awning opening (backs to where the parents stand) fight Darth Vader in the show. If your kids have a preference who they “battle”, have them sit on the appropriate line of circles. Enjoy!

Oooh, this is important information to be had! Great tip!

So in the attached pic, the kids sitting by the rope will be against Darth Vader...
