If we go to Hollywood Studios at RD and sign up for Jedi academy, can we choose the time or will we be given the next available opening?

I agree with previous poster.Have a great time while at WDW:)

What is the best age for a kid to enjoy the jedi academy? Would a 4.5 year old who generally gets scared of 'dark' things have fun with it, in your opinion?

Our 4 year old loved it. He has an older brother, so he has probably watched more Star Wars than the average 4 year old.

thanks. i may find some videos of it or something to prep her closer to trip time. In past trips she gets very turned off by the dark, so things like even the donald boat ride in Epcot upset her. Hoping she does more now a year + later.

At the end the kids face off with Darth Vader (or another villan). It can be a bit intimidating and we've seen kids back out. If she's apprehensive, I'd save it for a later trip.

How fast do all the spots go after rope drop? I'll be there at rope drop but I do not like being that person who runs around people to get in line. If I walk normally with my DS (4.5) will we get there in time to get a spot?

You'll need to walk with purpose or you can end up with a 30-45 minute wait just to sign up. By then, your choice of slots/sessions will be diminished.

Are they still doing a "rolling" opening to DHS or is it strictly the time posted?

Thanks, that is very helpful. I don't like to run at rope drop b/c of how many people are around and how many times I've seen accidents but I guess it's either fast-walk or miss out. It would be nice if they expand this to two areas or maybe even pre-register / FP+ when they do the refurbishments. Would alleviate a lot of headaches. I'll just hope most are going to run to TSMM that morning!

Totally agree! I'm worrying about this now and we aren't even going until November. It's the #1 thing on my sons list to do though since he is so into Star Wars! Wish we could FP it!

They'll ask the child some questions to make sure they can follow directions and will be OK being up on the stage without parents. If your kid might find this scary, I guess talk to them about what it entails before you try to sign up.

Thanks for all the great additional info!!! We're even more excited now!
