Jeans: $100 and up???

I'd pay just about anything for GOOD fitting jeans...Last ones I bought were Caslon at Nordstrom for about $62.

Agreed! Ralph Lauren for me, about $68. I LOVE the way they fit me.

I do buy expensive jeans as I find they fit me better. I have 7 for all man Kind, true religion, Juicy, Denim Paige (one of the best pairs I own) and Citizens of humanity, I do have cheaper pairs as well though which I wear for lounging around in, though I don't wear them out as they always hang of my waist.

I dont consider expensive jeans any different than anything else, im mean you could shop at Neimans or Kmart, buy a bmw or a Chevy Aveo, eat caviar or a big mac, buy a Louis Vuitton or settle for a Sak.

I am so happy with the new designer jeans because they FIT me , I dont even have to look for tall jeans because they are all made for me , with most having a 34 inseam, not to say I dont like less expensive ones like abercrombie, one pair of those I was wearing until they died because I loved them sooo much.

I dont plan on eating any puppy chow either :) but there are some tasty kitty treats I might have to try :)

The only way I could personally justify over $100 for jeans is if they made my size 14 butt look like a size 8. :teeth:

I have yet to see a pair of pants (jeans or otherwise) that I think are worth $100.

I have never been one to have to buy something because it had a designer name or was the latest fad.

I think you are paying for the brand name. When you put on those 100 jeans, you feel special so of course they look great!

May be the case for some, but not for me. I love a bargain more than anyone and I'd be the first to tell you that my American Eagle jeans fit great and only cost me $35!

But I'm wondering if all the people who are saying that it's dumb/insane/ridiculous to spend $100+ on jeans have actually tried any on? And not just one pair, but several different brands?

If you have, you can not honestly tell me that they look the same and feel the same as cheaper ones. I have been to Old Navy and tried on 4 pairs of the same size/same cut and they all fit differently. I've stopped buying stuff there because of this.

I try not to look at the price first and find a pair that looks good and feels good. My waist is a size or two smaller than my hips, so the lower rise work better (not ultra low).

I have found anything from $69 (Ralph L, DKNY, Calvin K) to Levis on sale in the $20's that fit well! I can be a 6 in one brand, and an 8 in another so it is a painful process to find jeans! :headache: By the time I find the perfect pair, I don't really care what they cost. Realistically, as long as they are under $100 I will get them! :) I have the same philosophy with a swimsuit. ;)

I have never tried a pair of designer jeans. I probably should because I live in jeans all fall & winter long. But as of right now I have easily 40 pairs of jeans and most are barely worn. But I will admit to my DKNY jeans fitting better than my LEI's. Oh man, I'm heading out the the outlet center this weekend. I think you girls are forcing me to spend my money right before vacation!! :teeth:

During the week I have to wear business casual clothing to work. So I have some dress pants from Kohls and I splurged and bought some from Ann Taylor. The Ann Taylor pants are really nice. They fit well. The waist fits right & the inseam is perfect. They are made of really nice material. Also, they are lined! I have dry cleaned them a bunch of times and they still look like new. I also bought some silk cardigans and some dress shirts. They all wear, wash and fit well. Normally I am not the type to care about lables or spend much on my clothes, but after I've seen how nice they are, I'm willing to continue shopping there.

Ha you should watch that TLC show "What Not to Wear" and see what they pay for a pair of jeans.... :rotfl:

I was like I can buy a ticket to florida for the price of those jeans!!!

My thoughts exactly, vettechick99!

I love a bargin as much as the next person. I love to shop at Target, Ross, Forever 21 and the GAP for cute tops. However, I can't find jeans to fit me at any of those stores! If I could, I would.

It is not about a "trend" or a "fad." Because I wear denim daily (I wear it to work!) it is important to me to have jeans that are comfortable, fit well, and will last. It is an investment. There is a big difference in quality and cut with higher-end denim. The denim I buy fits my ultra-long inseam, narrow hips, is a classic cut and wash and fit me so well they won't show my behind or underwear if I bend over. I can't get that from Old Navy jeans. I can get that from $200 True Religions. It's as simple as that and I'm willing to pay for it. You can't tell me there is no difference until you try them for yourself.

As for the idea that it is psychological-- that you feel "special" in pricey jeans--that is absurd! I don't buy high-end denim for the name. I buy it because it fits! I love my 7 and True Religion jeans as much as I love my $30 Levi's from JC Penny. There are high-end brands that don't work for my body and I don't buy them. The few brands that do work, I buy. (It helps that the jeans really do boost your rear view!)
