Well, this is it!! I decided to take the plunge and start a WISH journal! In fact, that is part of my New Year's Resolution along with starting a regular exercise program.

I have been doing Weight Watchers since mid-May (I joined WISH the day after joining WW) and I have lost 50 1/4 pounds to date! (Don't forget that 1/4 pound! Hey-that's equal to a McD's burger!) I'm thrilled with the success I've had so far. I've started and abandoned so many diets, but this time I know I'm going to go all the way to goal. The difference in those other times and this time is WISH! There is so much support and caring here that it just lifts you up! :D :D

I have a long way yet to go before I get to goal. I'm currently at 215.5 and my ultimate goal is to reach 125-130. So I guess I'd better get out of the Christmas goodie mood and get back down to business! During Christmas week I didn't keep my WW journal at all, so as of yesterday, I am back on target with doing that. The other thing I have got to get serious about is exercise. I've been so off and on with this (mostly off) and I know it's key to good health and losing weight. I've been a couch potato all my life, so this isn't going to be easy for me.

I think for now, I'm going to start with the WATP 1 mile tape and try to work up to the 2 and then the 3 mile. I may also alternate this with walking on my treadmill some days, but since it is in the garage, it's less convenient. I have been doing the tape every day since last Thursday. I go back to work next Monday and that's when the challenge will really begin for me. I never willingly get up any earlier than I have to, but if I leave exercising to the evening hours, I'm afraid I will find too many excuses to not do it.

Breakfast this morning was a banana. I usually eat more than that, but I've got a bit of a cold and I just haven't been hungry when I first get up. DD and I went shopping and had lunch at Steak and Shake. I had a single steakburger w/cheese, garden salad w FF italian and I ate about 1/2 of a cup of chili. We had never been there and it was great, but at 10 points for the burger, I don't think I will be going there often. Dinner was a bowl of vegetable beef soup and 5 saltines. Later I'm going to have a cup of SF FF chocolate pudding! My New Year's Eve treat! (And it should feel nice on my sore throat!)

Well, I think that's about it for my first journal entry!! See you again, tomorrow! :D

Journal Day 2 - New Year's Day!!!

DH is out of town, so I have managed to escape all of New Year's Day without watching one football game! Nada! Zip! It seemed wrong somehow, but that still didn't stop me. ;)

I still have a rotten cold or it may be a sinus infection coming on. I guess instead of ringing in the New Year, I have been blowing it in!

I did the 1 mile WATP tape and managed to get through the knee lifts at the end this time. So progress is being made!

Today I had
Breakfast - Bowl of cereal w/ 1/2 c of 1% milk
Lunch - PB Sandwich on low calorie bread and a cup of applesauce sweetened with Splenda.
Dinner- (DD & I went to Cracker Barrell) Grilled pork chop, mashed potatoes, green beans, carrots and a corn muffin
Snack- 1/2 c of SF FF chocolate pudding w/2 tbsp lite cool whip

Well, I guess we can see that this cold is not stopping me from eating today.

Before I start, let me sound a ***Whine Alert****

I had a really rotten day today. I had a terrible time sleeping last night because of coughing and today I feel just terrible. I got into see the doc late this afternoon and he gave me a prescription for some antibiotics and cough medicine. It was kind of cool, he had a palm pilot and he just faxed it from his palm pilot directly to the drug store. When I got to the drug store, they said it would take 2 hours to fill the prescription! Since I live about 30 min. away from town, I decided to just go back & pick up tomorrow. I'm glad I didn't wait! At around 8:30 tonight, I got a call from the drug store that they were out of the antibiotic my doc prescribed and they wouldn't have any until Monday. They are calling it in to another drug store for me. All the bugs and flu must really be putting a run on their resources! I do appreciate them calling into another store and letting me know, though.

Ok, I think I've gotten that whine out of my system now. :D

Today, all I can say is thank goodness for flex points. I used 10 today!! I thought being sick is supposed to make you eat less. That doesn't seem to be the case with me, although I do think it's mostly just from feeling bad and frustration. Not from real hunger. That's something I really need to work on.

Breakfast- Banana
Lunch-Cup of Vegetable Beef Soup, 5 RF ritz crackers w 1 tbsp p-nut butter. cup of applesauce sweetened with splenda
Dinner- (here is where the frustration kicked in) Brought home stuff from pizza hut. 2 breadsticks w/sauce and 3 slices of med. cheese pizza.

I haven't done my WATP tape today-I've felt so crummy, I thought I would skip it today.

Ooops, reading back over this sounds like one big giant whine. :o If anyone has read all the way through, sorry about that. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Jeanie

Jeanie-I hope that you are feeling better. You shouldn't feel it necessary to apologize for whine time in YOUR journal. That is what it is there for. It is difficult to stay truly OP when you are not feeling good and yes I agree, I love the flex points. Make sure you are drinking enough liquids, especially your water and that will help to keep you hydrated. Hope you are feeling back up to speed soon and then I'm sure you'll be back on total plan.

Thanks, Tammy. I'm hoping those antibiotics kick in and make me feel better soon. The one thing that I have found it easy to stick to has been drinking my water. Cold water feels good on my sore throat, so I have been drinking all day long.

DD and I got involved in cleaning out her room yesterday and I never took time to check in. Sheesh, I believe she had everything in there that she had been given or bought in all 17 years of her life!! It was quite a chore, but we finally got through it. I just hope our local Goodwill is ready for the new inventory! :teeth:

Overall, I think I haven't done too badly this week, in spite of feeling rotten. I stuck to my minimum points pretty much every day this week except for pizza day and I did my WATP tape 5 out of 7 days. Since I haven't really been exercising at all in the last couple of months, I'm pretty proud of that. I will probably add in more of my flex points next week, too. I usually use at least half and sometimes all of them. The thing that I have struggled with the most this week is getting in all the nutritional components that WW recommends (milk and fruits/vegetables). I'll do better with those next week.

Tomorrow is my weigh in and my scales are showing that I'm down 2 pounds. My scales are very unreliable lately, but I'm hoping that the WW scales will be kind! :D

Today's meals

B - Banana

L- Tomato Soup

D- Salad w/lite italian dressing
Lasagne (about 1 1/2 cups)
roll

S- 1/2 c of snow cream ice cream

It's good to hear that you are getting your water in, at least that is making your throat feel better. I think doing those tapes that many days and not feeling good is great.

My DD is only 11 and her room needs a good cleaning out/going through. She saves everything as well so I know that will be an all day job when we start.

Keep up the great work and I'm sure your WI will go great. Sending you :wizard: to feeling better real soon.

Apparently sinus infections pay off! ( At least on weigh in day.) I was down 3.25 pounds at WW this evening!!! I'm sure the exercising had something to do with it as well. :hyper: I go back to work tomorrow, so tomorrow will be the test of whether I will keep up my exercise. I'm determined to make the grade! I know that exercise is the next step I have to take to really get healthy.

I had lots of flex points left, so I splurged a bit. After WW, DH and DD met me at our local Mexican restaurant and I had chicken fajitas, refried beans and chips and salsa. I love Mexican food and the spicyness was just what I needed to counteract the way everything tastes kind of blah when you're sick.

The rest of the day was:
B- 1 cup frosted miniwheats and 1/2 c of 1% milk
L- 1/2 peanut butter sandwich. baked doritos and salsa.

I also did my WATP tape this morning! :D

Thanks for the PD, Tammy. I think it's beginning to help! :D

WOW, you had a great WI day, congratulations. I don't blame you for rewarding yourself with Mexican afterward (that is my favorite meal). I'm sure that your exercising had a lot to do with you loss, keep up your hard work as it is already paying off. Have a great day.:D

Thanks, Tammy! :D

Well, I am proud to say that I passed the test yesterday. I was afraid that I would be tempted to not do my exercise when I went back to work, and to tell the truth, the thought did cross my mind. But I decided that if I started blowing it off, it would just be too easy to continue. So I kicked my family out of the den and I did my WATP tape. :teeth: I'm so self concious when it comes to exercising in front of anybody. I just feel so clumsy and uncoordinated. I have noticed that I'm getting better at it, though I think it will be a long time before I feel comfortable doing it in front of people.

At work, I kind of thought that the Christmas goodie syndrome would be over by now. Yikes!! Wrong, again!! If anything, there is more stuff piled on our breakroom table than before. None of it was very tempting to me, though. I've had my fun and now I'm ready to get back down to business! Hear that, cookies?? Better get out of my way 'cause I'm on my way onward and downward!!

Meals yesterday were:
B - 1 c frosted miniwheats and 1/2 c 1% milk
L - PB sandwich on low-calorie bread
cup of tomato soup
banana
D- 6" subway sandwich - Turkey w/red wine viniagrette
Baked doritos and salsa
Salad w/ low-cal italian dressing
S- cup of FF SF chocolate pudding

Ooops! Somehow I managed to post a partial post. I couldn't delete it so I just erased everything. :o

Things got busy yesterday and I'm afraid my poor journal got neglected. I got home late from work and things just went downhill from there.

I didn't do my WATP tape yesterday. That's ok for now, though. My inital plan is to exercise 4 days a week in the beginning, so anything over that is just gravy (if you'll pardon the expression :teeth: ).

Meals yesterday were:
B - 1 cup miniwheats and 1/2 c 1% milk
L- PB sandwich on lite bread
FF Pringles
Celery sticks
Apple
D - Rigatoni w/meat sauce
salad w/FF italian dressing
roll
S - cup of SF FF chocolate pudding

Used 7 flex points to get through the day.

Today was better. I wasn't quite as busy today and didn't have to stay late. As soon as I got home, I did my WATP tape. I thought that I made it through a little easier today. Although I must be doing some of the arm movements wrong. I keep pulling a muscle in my shoulder. I'll have to pay better attention to what I'm doing.

Meals today:
B- 2 Special K Eggo Waffles and about 4 Tbsp lite syrup.
L- 2 slices supreme pizza (we had a lunch meeting today)
D- 1 chicken fajita made w FF tortilla and a bean & cheese burrito made w FF refried beans
S- haven't had one yet, if I get hungry I will have 1/2 c of Snow Cream Ice Cream (just 2 points and very yummy!)

I've been hungrier than usual today, so I'm using some of my flex points again, 5-7 depending on whether I have the snack.

It's supposed to snow tonight (in East Tennessee). We don't get much snow anymore, so I hope we do get at least a little. DD is hoping for it too, so they'll call off school!

Jeanie

Well, I got my wish!! We did get snow last night. Not much, just an inch or so at my house. The roads were icy this morning, so my boss gave us all the day off! I work in the central office of a school system, so school was closed, but we usually go in. It was a nice surprise to get an unexpected day off!

Yesterday, I was just so hungry for some reason. I had planned to have some lf ice cream for a snack, but had a banana instead, thinking it would be more filling. I was still hungry, though, so later I also had 1/2 c of cereal and some milk. That finally did the trick, but I had to use a couple of extra flex points. That's ok, though, I've still got plenty to spare this week.

Today, the hunger factor was much better! I did my WATP tape this morning and then just puttered around the house all day and took a short nap this afternoon. :o Hope that inactivity didn't counteract the good I did with the exercise!

Todays meals:
B - 1 c of miniwheats and a cup of FF SF hot chocolate made with 1 c of 1% milk

L-PB sandwich made w/lite bread, a banana. baked doritos w/salsa

Afternoon snack- baby carrots

D- Spaghetti w/meat sauce (used lf hamburger meat and rinsed to get out extra fat)

Evening snack- SF jello, if I get hungry.

Went to DMIL's house for dinner yesterday and this is always a challenge for me. The stuff she cooks is not WW friendly and her feelings are usually a little hurt if you don't eat what she makes. I usually just save points from my other meals to use for dinner and also use flexpoints if necessary. Today's dinner cost me 20 points! :scared1: Although I may have estimated a little high on some things. I usually do that to be safe because of the way she seasons everything. I also ended up using 12 flex points for a piece of chocolate cake. :crazy2: I guess I shouldn't worry about it, because I still had plenty of flexpoints to use this week ( I still have 12 left), but I can't help but feel guilty about it.

We usually go see her every Sat and she cooks dinner. I think next week, I will try eating some 0 point stuff before going so I won't be too hungry.

Stopped at Walmart and got the set of WATP for Abs tapes. I can't wait to get started on them! The WATP tape I have been using is the one with the weighted balls and I really like it, but only have the 1 mile tape. I think it will be great to have the 2 kinds to vary things a bit.

Meals for Sat:

B- Banana

L- Turkey Sandwich on lite bread and baby carrots

D-(the 20 point meal!)
Roast beef
mashed potatoes
Corn
Pinto Beans
Cornbread
and (gulp!) small piece of choc cake

I think I will do extra exercise today (Sun) to make up for the cake.
