I love the Golden Girls! I also think they were impressively progressive (and humorously dirty) for the 80s and very early 90s. Isn't there an episode where Blanche's brother (who comes out to her in an earlier episode) brings his partner and tells Blanche they are planning a wedding? A friend and I were trying to remember if the wedding actually happened on the show. I'm pretty sure it didn't (I think Friends had the first tv gay wedding) but it's still pretty impressive that they were even discussing a gay wedding at that time.
