My oldest dd's birthday is Dec 23rd. Since it is so close to Christmas, we usually celebrate early in the month.

Just so happens that earlier in December this year we will be at WDW.

Instead of spending the money on a party at home, we would rather celebrate her b-day early while at Disney.

I'm excited just thinking about it. It would be fun to get those birthday stickers and/or ribbons for her to wear, and maybe have pixie dust happenings like I have read about.

However, I'm worried about my younger DD and DS getting jealous. DD will be in kindergarten and DS is a toddler.

Has anyone experienced the "No fair, I don't get to have my birthday here", etc? How did you handle it? Coming back on everybody's elses birthday is not an option for us. (I wish!)

Any suggestions?

I doubt the toddler would even notice...mine wouldnt. And if you are worried about the kindergartener, just tell her that maybe she can have her birthday there another year.

We celebrated DD 13th birthday while at WDW last year. DS9 did not complain about her getting a birthday celebration there...in fact he made sure that our server knew at dinner that his sister was celebrating a birthday (maybe because we were at Whispering Canyon and he knew they would embarress her  ). We did make a point of letting him choose a dinner location for another night.

Granted my DS is older than your little ones, but maybe if you let them choose a special dinner or activity they might just forget that for a little while their sister got special treatment. ;)

Enjoy your trip and celebrating your DD birthday!

I would suggest that you also make a "special day" for the other two kids. That way they don't feel left out.

We have two daughters. One birthday in June and the other in March. We will be there in June for our oldest daughters birthday again. (17) What we did last time was to have our daughter whose birthday was in March (13)celebrate her birthday with a special dinner. We will be doing the same this year. After all, Disney is all about family and celebrations!!!
Happy Mothers Day to all!! party: party:

For 2 years we did March trips for youngest DS birthdays. Last year and this year were/are for oldest birthdays.

Keep in mind they are 13 years apart, so that makes them at this typing 23 and 10. The youngest didn't act jealous last trip, matter of fact he encouraged oldest son and oldest DS's best friend (they both went and b'days are 5 days apart) to get the b'day buttons. He was just as thrilled when they were noticed as when he was noticed the years he wore them.

I agree with maybe one year we can do your birthday here, and then see what you can do. Possibly just make it a parent and birthday child weekend, if planning an entire family vacation is out of the question.

When we went for DD's 8th birthday, two things helped prevent jealousy in DS (then 4):

1. I made it clear that DS would have his own birthday celebration at WDW in the future. As it turned out, we couldn't do it for his 8th birthday this past January, but I am surprising him with a bash this August.

2. While planning the original trip, DS had just as much input as his sister in attraction and meal choices. Each of us made a list of the "top 5" things we wanted to see or do in each park, and I used the Unofficial Guide to prioritize those top 5's and combine them into a viable plan for each day. I then made up index cards for each child to keep in their fanny packs with the plans written and drawn (for not-yet-reading DS) on them so everyone could see that we would get to the things they wanted. Yes, DD was the "star" of the trip, but the vacation was geared to the entire family.
