Last week I was diagnosed with an intolerance to gluten so I can't eat anything now with wheat flour in in. With a nice sense of proportion I thought :confused3 my first worry was 'what happens when I go to DLP' Does anyone have any idea how I would go about coping with a food allergy whilst in DLP.

It seems I'm fine with the basic meat and potatoes - it's just that I will have to avoid anything that might have had wheat flour wafted over it.

I'm not sure how to explain it either.

ugh - sorry to hear that....

I can tell you that from my experience, I sometimes found helpful CMs when I was looking for veggie food, other times not.

The buffet at the NPB had barely anything and the manager basically told me tough luck. At SQL buffet at least the server told his manager that I should be charged the child price as he saw what a small serving I ended up with.

At Silver Spur the manager insisted that anchovies are just tiny fish therefore do not count.

At Walt's my server was very kind and offered to get me double portion of appy.

So it really depends - I don't think that they are as sensitive to food allergies as in the US, but I may be wrong (in my case I choose to eat veggie due to a health issue) And I realize that being veggie is not the same as having an allergy, but just wanted to share my experience.

I hope that you have good luck!!

Wow, I'm so sorry for you! Maybe if you send an e-mail to their customer service they'll give you some advices... I'm sure they know what and where you can eat safely, as many people are "intolérant au gluten" -gluten intolerent-. I hope you will be OK, take good care of you :goodvibes

Bad luck Nikki  Just had a quick look at the special diets page on the DLP Foodguide - it gives this link to a brochure which might be of use to you.

Do you have gluten-intolerance or the more serious form, Celiac disease? That would make a huge difference on how to handle it.
The only reason I ask is that the friend I'm travelling with on Sun has gluten-intolerance (but in a milder form) and can't have any wheat things without feeling weak and bloated etc.
If yours is a fairly similar sounding type, I can let you know when we get back how she found menus, choice and help etc. She's been diagnosed gluten intolerant for more than 10 years so has plenty of experience.

Let me know if theres any info in particular that would be helpful for you :)

Sorry to hear about this Nik. Hopefully the link posted by Becky will offer some comfort :)

Sorry to hear that Nik, but if you've been haviong problems I would imagine it is a relief to find the cause, I'm sure with Becky's link and info from Tracey's friend there will be no need for your trips to be affected.:wave2:

Thanks for your advice and kind thoughts everyone. I'm still in shock over it to be honest. Fortunately a lot of shops and stores offer a gluten free range so it's not as bad as it might be. It's just going out for meals that's going to be a real problem.

Hi Nik,

My Mum has an intolerance to Gluten too and it only just occurred to us that she may have a problem finding suitable food whilst at Disneyland Paris.

Apparently they have four set menus that are avaliable at certain fast food outlets, table service and hotel restaurants which are all listed in the document.

I think each set meal costs around €10-15 which perhaps is a little expensive as they consist mostly of soup, salad and fruit purée so I guess it would be a good idea to take a small supply of gluten-free products so you don't make yourself feel poorly - I know both Sainsburys and Tesco have started stocking a vast range.

Chin up and don't let it spoil your holiday! :)

Sorry I couldn't post with links as I haven't got enough post counts yet.

Thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts and advice. It probably shouldn't be the highest priority but I would be really distraught if I couldn't take my few precious days away once in a while.

Hi Nik!
Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier.

I asked my friend and she said she hadn't had any problems in any of the places we ate in. There was enough info on the menu and choices that were suitable. Walts was her favourite restaurant (they have since changed the menu though). Inevitably buffet restaurants had the greatest choice and she said they were a good option. Even at breakfast there was enough choices, she mainly had corn based cereal, fruit and yoghurt etc with the extra cooked options as well in Cafe Mickey.
We had taken plenty of snacks for carrying around the park that were fine for her to eat too.

So everything should be ok for you, hope this helps and you enjoy your trip :)

That is good news. I'm having a hard enough time getting my head round this without worrying that my rare and much prized Disney jaunts were a thing of the past.:scared1: :scared1:

We got back from Disneyland Paris on the 14th April and can report we had no trouble finding food suitable for people who have an intolerance to gluten.

We stayed at the Sequoia Lodge and at breakfast time my Mum just asked a member of staff for gluten free products or 'sans gluten' as it is written on products.

They gave her a sealed pack of sliced bread and also brought out cakes a various biscuits all indvidually sealed, we took some for eating in the park and for the coach trip home aswell.

That's helpful to know. Thanks everyone for your help and encouragement

that's great news! as I said many times on a recent veggie thread, they DO try and help out. Hopefully the OP of the veggie thread sees ryan's comments and is reassured. :)
